Possibly, with a few well chosen examples.

I'd have to say the 50's were some great years for motorcycles:

They're cool but I wouldn't call them the pinnacle of design. I like a mixture of old and new. Old looks with new technology. For example:

Four valve head, you can see the two exhausts in front. One plug. BTW, that's unrestored original.

Hugh, how would you like your Rudge screened on a Little Traveler t-shirt in our Fall 08 collection? Would just need a few pics to play with.
let me know, I'm doing 3 motorcycle T's.

Sure, that would be cool. Its not as beautiful as some of the others you've shown. PM me your email and I'll try and send some high res pics to you.

Here are a few shots from Lars Anderson last year. It doesn't have the nice patina or history that Hugh's bike has though.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hugh, is this a later replica version?

Jim
That appears to be a 1936 500 cc Grand Prix Ulster. The difference is mine was a real factory racer, not a street bike. Mine doesn't have a kick starter, but a compression release on the left handle bar coming of "backwards" from the end of the handle bar.

I couldn't agree more. This Velocette is later than the 30's I believe, but the fellow in the green slicker is the original owner and still rides this thing coast to coast. It is one of the coolest unrestored vehicles that I've seen.

Whoa! Jim, would you mind sending me your photos of the Velocette if you think OK to use as well? Even just the logo on the tank would make for a nice design element somewhere on a shirt, like down the sleeve. email is shaun at littletravelerusa dot com if you think it ok.

Shaun, I sent them to you. I took the pictures, so I don't mind and the owner of the bike who lives near Boston I'm sure wouldn't mind either. He is a great character and full of stories. The bike behind his in the first picture belonged to his brother and has been in his basement since his brother passed away in the early 50's. It had been ridden a few months when new and put away. Beautifully original!
Send me a shirt if you end up using anything. ![]()

Got them Jim, thank you! and as I said, let me know how many and what sizes you need sometime in February and I'll send a package in July. Will have an extra sample created for you as well in January.
Really hoping I can work all this in. there's truly nothing like real, original patina in vintage design. wish it were more appreciated by buyers. Will post artwork when it goes off to the sampling house.
