Trade? Liquidate? Keep 'em all...help?
Trade? Liquidate? Help
Okay, you may have seen my post under "cars for sale"; I have a few vehicles that are my prides and joy but due to money constraints, I cannot continue to afford the proper upkeep of all four vehicles in my family However, I do want to keep one or two of the little gems. So I am looking for a little advice. My scenarios are: A. sell off the '98 Boxster and e30 hennarot M3 (keeping the 81 911SC/C2 frankenporsche) and use the proceeds to buy a 993 or 996. A. sell the boxster and 911 B. sell all three and buy a 993 or 996 c. Trade any or all for the above (993 or 996) for a nice 993 or newer conversion d. keep em all and live on a better budget The boxster is great...a 9 out of 10 but needs new os sensors, the 911 is in top mechanical form but is still being put back together cosmetically (aero mirros etc.) and the M3 is virtually mint. Any adivce from the board?

My advice: post pics. then we can figure out which we like the most and which we'd keep in your shoes. Frankly, if your cars are in good condition I can't see a lot of difference in upkeep in the scenarios you describe. Possibly some insurance/general maintenance savings, but nothing that would move the needle. Dire financial straights that would require selling one or more don't usually involve picking up another fun car to replace them?

My philosophy has been to keep and or acquire the car that would be the hardest to replace down the road. Or another way of putting it is keep the one that will have the highest value over time. In your case I'd probably opt for the 993.

You're not going to find a mint e30 M3 everyday, especially in that cool color, the other 2... boatloads. Just sayin'

why I am doing what I am doing...
I appreciate the feedback. I can technically aford all three if I cut back on entertainment etc. M daily driver is a little bmw 325i (three years old and paid for) but it's approaching 70,000 and I wanted to switch up my rides during the week -- I figured the best bet is to unload two, reduce my maintenance on those cars, and get into a 993 or the likes.
However, the e30 M3 is a fabulous examples, and as a fellow user points out, more desirable by the day... the 911sc is a great runner and could be perfect for very little and the boxster, well, my better half loves it as does the stepdaughter -- it is in excellent condition and is what it is...hell, for the 15k I could get for it (if I am lucky) I might as well keep it. Ideally, I would ditch the boxster and the 2004 325 and get another porsche, a '95 993. If anyone knows of anybody looking for any of these cars, send them my way...I am very hesitant to sell the e30 m3 but I guess I would for the right price... you guys know this is all very addictive, right? (lol)

Your not very constrained when it comes to money, as you would be getting rid of them instead of trying to play musical chairs.

not true...
last I remember, three sets of brakes are more than one....insurance, general upkeep...and being that they are all older cars, they need more attention than, let's say a 993.
Am I wrong? If I can keep 'em, I will just keep them and sell the 325 ![]()

I might be interested in the M3 if you're serious about selling it. I say "might", but am very serious if you want to go there

88 M3
I am interested but am not desperate enough to sell it at wholesale or the such. It's in Atlanta (my home there) and is just a beaut. If I sold it, I know I'd regret it put I really need to slim down the stable. Send me your email and I'll fire off a few pics: robertludwick@hotmail.com

Yeah, the mint M3 is the oddball here. It's gotta go. If I were you I'd drop it on this forum cheap just to be done quickly with the non-Porsche German car without mods or any chance of being modded. Since I'm such a friend of all Pellicanites I'd be happy to take it off your hands. Really, I'd be happy to do that service for you.

I am getting the point here...I should probably be greatful for the cars I hav e an not try to slip into something a little newer...a little more modern etc. If it wasn't for the ex-wives and the support checks, I'd be in a GT3...or damn near it...only four more years of payments to go, boys!
Seriously, my 911 project is almost done (Byron, where's my turbo, friend? lol) and the others are excellent as is...guess your comments really set me straight -- hell, I knew the e30 M3 was a revered little car but the response on the "for sale" post was incredible. Guess I'll keep her unless someone wants to trade dfor a newer 911 than my '81 (lol) Thanks all for your input. Now, if you guys could just sell me spacers for the SC and a 930 steering wheel hub adapter, I could be happy...maybe...nah, I am a grumpy ****er... g'night
