Foose Truck opinions

Just wanted to get some other peoples opinion on my good fortune. I recently entered a sweepstakes with ford motor company to win a new ford truck. A few weeks later we got a package explaining we were on of ten who may win the truck. Ford flew my wife and I to miami beach for the final nascar race at homestead. Totally red carpet treatment and right before the race we did the key ceremony and my key started the truck. I was looking to replace the chevy truck I had just sold. So now I have won this flashy 450hp f150 supercrew truck and I am struggling with keeping it or selling it. I like the looks of it but have never driven anything that flashy. Some say sell it and get something I really want. I already have my dream car, my 1985 turbo look carrera. Dont really need the money for anything else pressing at this point. I am thinking keep it. What would some of you do?

Hers a link http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-f-150-foose-edition.html

And another one http://www.topix.com/forum/source/kxtv/TSM35U9SDNM43HHFE

The pictures in the second link are not of the foose truck obviously.
Thanks for the thoughts. Chris

Congratulations, IMHO, if you have to ask...you probably really don't want it. Sell it and put the money in your retirement fund.

Somewhere out there there's a Ford guy who's in love with that truck and will pay you top dollar for it.

If you don't love it, let an enthusiast have it and spend the money on a nice truck for your needs.

Just think if there was a Ford guy out there who won a GT3 in a contest and let his wife DD it down a muddy road every day because he didn't really like the looks of it.

Drive it.

My buddy won a brand new pick up about 5 years ago, he still drives it today.

Do you have to pay income and/or sales tax on the value of it?

Absolutely.

The truck looks ok except for the rims...and the paint job

That is a handsome truck. Some bling, but not too much. Not gaudy, just a well done custom.

If money is not the issue - keep it. You do not often have the opportunity in life to own something that was built by a famed designer like Foose (or for that matter Ruf, etc) without having to pay the full price of the vehicle and the aftermarket work.

Drive and enjoy.

It's a good looking truck, personally I would keep it and drive it till the wheels fell off.

It's a Ford.
Douse it in petrol, light it, walk away. It's the only real solution.

You know you have to pay short term capital gains on that right? 25% of its value. Plus Cali is going to tax it as ordinary income up to 9% depending on your tax bracket.

Whether you sell it or not.

If you keep it, it will depreciate like a rock falling off a cliff.

I'd store it and advertise nationally. Get top $$ now, keep the balance after taxes.

IMO.

+1. It would be tough using that thing as a truck. Oh and congratulations on the win!

Go park in in a barn.

Thirty years from now, there will be a new "GUESS WHAT I FOUND IN A BARN" thread on the F-150 forum. Maybe they will name it "Hester".

I'd sell it while the guy's name is still hot-ish.

Have you done any research on what his cars are selling for? J

To answers the tax question yes I will get a 1099 form from ford for 50,000. Also I will have to pay sales tax and dealer prep when I pick it up in march of 2008. All together my accountant figures it wll cost me a total of $12,000 out of my pocket. I did go drive a new f150 harley davidson truck with a similar engine package it was pretty impressive on acceleration. Mostly the cosmetics are what gets me, I dont think I have every had a car with graphics and aftermarket wheels. I think its cool looking I just have always had more plain looking vehicles. Thanks for the replys it will help me decide over the next three months what to do.

ONe other thing... you should check on insurance for a vehicle like that. I'm betting it will also be a ball-breaker, for value of a one-off like that.

You won't be able to just park it in a lot or on the street... especially at night...
