Guitar Hero II / III controllers on PS2 RockBand?
My son is trying to get "RockBand" together for PS2
His mom bought him the full RockBand package on Ebay - for PS3! (oopsie) He has a PS2, and he has the PS2 controllers from Guitar Hero II & III. He can buy the PS2 RockBand disk for $50 or so. He can't buy a PS3. There are two issues - (1) Activision (GH) controllers on RockBand might not work. (2) PS3 Rock Band controllers may not be compatible with PS2. Does anyone here have a definitive answer on these issues? |
I recommend buying an actual guitar.
Guitar Hero is the saddest creation of the decade. |
The saddest creation of the decade? Have you played it? I think it is fun but tough.
I've been playing guitar off-and-on since I was in second grade. My son is 14 and has played piano, slide trombone, baritone etc but never picked up a guitar until he got into Guitar Hero. So now he has an actual electric guitar (mine) and an amplifier and he plays it a lot, but his cousins are coming up from Mobile for Christmas and he is very excited about being able to play RockBand with them while they are up (they all play violin), and since my wife and I filed for divorce this month I am quite happy to see him connecting with family. Thanks for the bump. SmileWavy |
I recommend "Heroin Hero"...

But... I do feel that Guitar Hero may lead to a generation of guitar players with lightning fast fingers. Have you played this thing yet? I play guitar myself. I can't play guitar hero. I suck, but mostly because my natural fretting tendencies want to take over. My wife does, and fairly well....I think she'd be able to learn guitar pretty easily now that she's developing some dang good hand eye coordination and rhythm from it. |
What's NEXT for PS2? "Nevada Brothel"? nah, it'll be for Wii ;)

Well they got it all to work --
PS2 GHII controllers work with RockBand. Apparently PS2 GHIII controllers don't. It is so much fun! My daughter was playing drums, I was on guitar, and my son was playing bass and singing. We played Weezer, NIN, and the Stone's "Gimme Shelter". and everytime we got done they would say "one more song even though it was past everyone's bedtime!" SmileWavy |
