Remember the Neighbor that called John Law on us…well get this!

About a month ago we had our carpets cleaned by Stanley Steamer – they came late - 9PM…blah blah blah…lots of noise…cops come because it was too noisey. Our “good friends” called them! Seriously. Anyways, on Friday night just as I’m getting home the phone rings and it’s the couple who called the cops on us. Seems as though they got into a car accident – nobody was hurt but they didn’t have their insurance card on them and the guy that hit them didn’t either (the other guy didn’t even have a license!). They called up my Wife wanting me to pick up one of them and drive them home to get the insurance card! Talk about brass balls!

Without hesitation she told them I would and without hesitation yet with plenty of sarcasm I went to get them. He stayed with their truck while I took her to their home. All the while I could help but comment on how much she was gonna get ribbed about this request, about how ironic it was that she called us and that I thought that they had a better relationship with John Law all the while humming that song by Alonis Morrestt “Isn’t Ironic”. She apologized up and down. I told here not to worry about it – that when it comes right down to it and the chips are down that friends are there for friends and I was glad she felt that we were close enough that she could depend on us…

So I drop her off. I pulled alongside her husband’s truck and asked: “So can you walk? Cuz I figured with brass balls the size you must have dangle between your legs that you would have some serious problems walking”? I could tell he was stunned, embarrassed and basically didn’t know what to say. I figured I would let him feel a little more uncomfortable so I just looked at him for what was maybe only 5 seconds but must have felt like 5 hours to him. Finally I said “Dude, just bust’n ya. No harm. It’s cool. Call me anytime you need help.”

Wow…ah…wow…

I would have told them to call a cab or maybe the cops that came to your house.

Karma.

Good for you on bustin his balls!
Ida done the same thing. He's a prick and I doubt he has any balls at all?

notfarnow 12-17-2007 09:46 AM

Was that the first time you spoke with them since they called the SWAT team?

Shaun @ Tru6 12-17-2007 09:47 AM

You should have just shot him. that's how we handled these things in Victoria.

You're the one with brass balls Lube. The bigger man who helps someone out in a pinch, no matter past history. You've moved over to the "nice" column on Santa's list.

Always take the high road if you can.

Cooler head and a bigger heart is the winner. Hope Santa is good to you.

That's a big IF. I'd always take the high road too IF it doesn't entail my wearing a doormat on my back.

Sounds like your Karma ran over their Dogma.

Neilk 12-17-2007 10:22 AM

I don't understand people who resort to calling the police first without asking a neighbor what's going on first (besides obvious violence problems etc).

You are a much better person than I.

Flatbutt1 12-17-2007 10:38 AM

good for you Lubey, proud of ya lad!

masraum 12-17-2007 10:57 AM

That's excellent. I love it when the universe cooperates.

now if you have a pickup and made her ride in the back it would've been very funny.....but kudos for doing the right thing :)

you "done good" Mike. Your kindness will drive 'em crazy! :D

I guess I'm not that big of a man.
I always liked that saying "fool me once, your fault. Fool me twice, my fault".

I would have told them to go pack sand and to learn a lesson about calling the cops on people they might need help from in the future. The last thing I would have done is to go out of my way to help them in any way, shape or form.
They will consider you a soft touch and won't think twice about screwing you again, they will figure you will always be there when they need you no matter how bad they treat you.

EDIT then again, I don't have much faith in people. I may be a bit "jaded".

You're a good man Mike.

Love it when IT comes around.

We would've never guessed this from your online persona. ;)

"Nice" column??? WTF? Mike has his own column. They don't come any better than him.

Mike, isn't that the best feeling in the world, knowing you have someone by the short ones...knowing THEY know you got them....and then you simply let them go. Good on ya!

Randy
