Browning Take Down .22 rifle

Any one happen to have any input on the Browning .22 takedown? I know they moved manufacturing to Japan in 74 from Belgum. Is the quality the same. (Grade one) Pre Japan models run fron $400.00- 4000.00 dependig on the grade. New ones are about the same.

My mom wants to buy one for my dad. He had to sell his back in the late 60's when money was tight and she said he has been talking about it a lot lately.

Where is a good place to start looking for a Belgium model? Gun stores can get new ones easily.
Anyone got one to sell?

Thanks for the input.
Ben

I own a belgium and a japan. Very little difference if any, however the belgiums are a little more desirable and will always hold their value better. Not all of the older ones will mount a scope if that is important to you.

There are several belgiums on gunbroker.com. As with any auction site, caveat emptor, although I haven't had any bad experiences there.

I had one of those New in the Browning Hard Case circa 1962 ..sold it for $900 within 12 hours of putting it in Gun Digest...

Beligum has collector value, Japanese has shooter value.

I don't imagine you're interested in the Norinco model.
