1911 manual of arms

Can someone briefly explain to me (or point me to a site) that explains the manual of arms for a 1911?

What does "manual of arms" mean?

Here is an owners manual for a typical 1911:

Todd- http://www.m1911.org/full_technic.htm or http://www.m1911.org/full_technic.htm.

Assume you mean "conditions"-ie, condition 1, cocked and locked w/ round in chamber, condition 2, round in chamber, hammer down etc.

I think the old 1911's didn't have a firing pin block, but the new ones do. All SIG's have them. It basically prevents the firing pin from moving unless the trigger is pulled. So dropping it cocked and locked wouldn't cause an AD on newer guns, but it would be possible on older ones. I may be wrong here. Depends on the brand and age of the 1911.

It aint tacticool but why can't people just say, "loaded, cocked and locked", "round in chamber, hammer down, safety on" etc instead of this Condition 1, 2, 3 jargon?
