A Worthy Cause Regardless of How You Feel About the Military
I happen to know this guy who started this endeavor. I think it is a real worthy cause. They are in the process of building a place for the families of these diasbled soldiers to stay while they recover.

Vet to Vet
Vet to Vet was founded in 1994. Just before Christmas of that year, Jess and Peggy Johnson distributed hamburgers and coffee thermoses to 24 patients at the Dallas VA Hospital. Their generosity was warmly received but the Johnsons soon discovered that they lacked sufficient supplies to provide gifts to each of the hundreds of patients in the transitional care unit. They returned the next day with thermoses for the others, and in the years since they have expanded their operation to include the Bonham, Waco, and Templ e VA hospitals in addition to the Dallas location.
Vet to Vet now provides 4,000 gifts to 1,600 patients each Christmas, as well as hosting monthly bingo games and barbecues throughout the year.
Vet to Vet hosts fundraisers to support Texas VA hospitals and would like to open a chapter in all 162 VA hospitals across the country. Additionally, the organization is building homes on land near VA hospitals that will accommodate veterans and their families free of charge during their rehabilitation.
Jess Johnson served as a US Army combat medic in the Vietname War and as a US Army Reserve weapons specialist and instructor at the JFK Special Warfare Center before retiring in 1999.
Vet to Vet assists disabled veterans in transitional care and VA hospitals. We do this by hosting events and fundraisers that provide veterans and their families with a sense of community and appreciation.
"Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military service, and the generous outreach of Jess and Peggy Johnson gives these individuals a much-needed reminder of the respect and gratitude they have earned through their sacrifice, their dedication and their immense courage."
