Cholesterol Level increases can a Doctor explain?

Just had an annual assessment.
In the assessment results after 18 mths I notice the following trend.

Male Age 49 (March 1958)
BMi 24.5

Non smoker 10 yrs
Non alcohol 10 yrs

July 2006 to Dec 2007

Weight 78kgs to 76.0 kgs
Height 1.75m

Total Cholesterol 144 to 171

HDL 38.0 to 39.5

Chol / HDL Ratio 3.8 to 4.3

Triglicerides 82 to 119

VLDL 16.4 to 23.8

LDL Cholesterol 89.6 to 107.7

LDL/HDL Ratio 2.4 to 2.7

Can you please explain is this good aor bad trend.
Furthermore given no change in exercise (5 days a week for 45 mins run and 20 min weights) or diet - (eat only fish brown rice veg and fruit and water.)
No soda no juices no alcohol

What causes this increase and what do you recommend ?

The only difference is I stopped taking Cartia asprin in 2007 from around July
I increased the amount of Carbs in the form of Whole wheat bread in 2007 from 2 slices to 6 slices per day thats all.

Thanks
Rad

When I turned 40 (6 years ago), my cholesterol went up unexplicably from 140 to 270. same diet, exercise, life style, etc... Seems my parents and brother all have high cholesterol and take medication for it. I can't take any Statins as they cause my liver enzymes to go up, so i take Welchol instead.

I would tell you that your body is less capable of processing materials as it ages, less efficient. Age and genetic predisposition have a lot to do with that stuff. A lot of the cardiac indicators(cholesterol, blood pressure) are genetic, I have personally seen blood drawn in a vacutainer that had some much crap in it I thought it looked like a strawberry milkshake, looked like a layer of butter on top after the centrifuge.

Try switching from margerine/butter to Benechol and start eating oatmeal or cheerios for breakfast.

I am no expert, but your Total Cholesterol is a lot lower than mine, which was 265!!!!!! I am not yet on any drugs.

In my 20's, due to 12+ eggs per day, my # was in the 300's.

BTW, I started to watch my diet to lower the #, and it sucks! I am a carnivore and love shrimp.
