Rick,

I have no clue what you are talking about. I can give you a short summary of who I am and my somewhat interesting life if you really want to know. But bringing up obscure terms like "Rodeo" makes you seem a bit strange to me.

Please advise.

Rodeo was perhaps the most intelligent and articulate passionate Centrist* on OT some time ago. He served in the Military (not sure, but I think Marines).

moneyguy is similar, but nearly completely dispassionate by my reading.

Moses might be a libertarian version.

You have made it abundantly clear that you do not suffer fools gladly.

Now it would behoove you to consider the utility of continuing to bang your head against an inert brick wall of ultra right wing fanatics who, whether they be capable of comprehending what you have to say (probably a majority are) or are ignorant, stupid or simply stubbornly intransigent.

It can be very frustrating trying to exchange and discuss ideas and differences with those who are, to quote J. Tull, "thick as a brick".

Yes, I believe that is the corps of the problem.

Since I also have a long list of vehement disagreements with the current administration, I guess I fall into the commie/traitor column.

Do you think Wayne hires someone to play the village idiot when things get too dull around here? Could Pat, Red UFO and WWB be the same person, posting with different names to inccrease traffic? They sound the same, repeat the same tired old lines, and then call people names before disapearing. Has anyone seen any two of them on line at the same time? Hmmmm.... They even have the same pattern of moments of rational discourse punctuated by threads that reek of a bloodstream dangerously low on medication. I think Wayne is having a bit of fun with us. The alternative is too scary to contemplate: That WWB is real.

fin, you seem to almost want to prove your stupidity. Here is EXACTLY how it is written as taken from the Commission of Presidential Debates (CDC) transcript:

"BUSH: I don't think so. I think what we need to do is convince people who live in the lands they live in to build the nations. Maybe I'm missing something here. I mean, we're going to have kind of a nation building core from America? Absolutely not."

That is the way CDC have it listed. Why not play your games with them since I simply copied it from their written text?

Are you too dense to understand or realize that the probable reason they spelled it that way is because that's the way that Gov. Bush said it? Or did that not enter into your tiny little cranium!;)

It's not as if Bush speaks in some sort of clear and concise manner. Or did you happen to miss when Mr. Bush confused "OPEC" with "APEC" while at the APEC meeting or how he butchers "nuclear" nearly every time. My personal favorite is when Bush turned "subliminal" into about a 9 syllable word. SmileWavy

So maybe why THEY printed it "core" rather than "corps" in the transcript is because that's what our linguistically challenged CIC said back in 2000.

Now fintstone, at this point is when Gov. Bush made his statement. There is no person with a double digit IQ who would pretend that Bush was simply talking about Haiti. And insinuating that YOU,of all people, know in your infinite wisdom what Gore might have been thinking is........well......fin-like.

What color is the sky in that strange little world in which you must dwell?

Of course he was talking about Haiti..or maybe Columbia...certainly not Iraq...You can repost the entire debate if you like, but the President's last words immediately before the quote in question (according to your own post) were "Haiti is another example. Now there are some places where I think -- you know, I've supported the administration in Columbia. I think it's important for us to be training Columbians in that part of the world. The hemisphere is in our interest to have a peaceful Columbia. But --"

..and then Gore followed with: "I don't disagree with that. And I certainly don't disagree that we ought to That's what we did in Haiti There are no more than a handful of American military personnel in Haiti now. And the Haitians have their problems, but we gave them a chance to restore democracy."
Considering that he said Haiti three times in his response, I don't really think it takes"infinite wisdom" to conclude that Gore was talking about Haiti as you do.

Perhaps you should find a better source of transcript. I have read several versions and the others all seem to know how to spell.

By the way, core and corp are generally pronounced the same way..so Bush could not have said it wrong...and you call him challenged. LOL

Actually MRM, a "village idiot" is probably some dumb guy from MN who makes incorrect assumptions while knowingly lacking the proper information.

Similar to a fool who would say that social security is NOT a federal program or that Africa was a nation. Hmmm...I wonder who ever did that?

Dumber yet are folks who will defend and support the aforementioned fool. But that certainly would not be you, I'm sure.;)

finstone, I am slowly coming to the conclusion that reality is at the extreme end of your reach and that verisimilitude (God but I would love to hear President Bush say that word!) is quite close enough when you speak....but absolutely never for others.

Let me ask you a question: Do you walk to work or do you take your lunch?

I hate to break it to you, but a misspelling in a transcript by a private organization does not mean it was originally pronounced incorrectly. The moderator's website...and all others that I have seen spell it correctly. I imagine that you are the only one that does not know the difference between the two words or their pronunciation. I guess the CDC website is just there to challenge folks like you who are...challenged.

Hmmm.........keep that ole '84 Targa of yours as far away from them as possible or expect to find yourself stranded!SmileWavy

WI wide body, you are obviously extraordinarily thickheaded! Or you would have an incredible headache from banging your head against a fintstone wall.

Let me ask YOU a question: Why is a fish when it swims? (and please don't reply with that wacky liberal answer "Because the higher it flies, the much".)

Been there, done that - it's all about the speling.

Now, do you see what you are doing again? You are taking an actual spelling in a transcript by the CDC and insinuating that you know how the word was pronounced at that time. You take aborting semantics to a whole new level...or would that be a new depth?

BTW, since Gov. Bush also mentioned "I called upon the Congress not to hamstring the administration" earlier in that debate before he made the "nation building" comment" he probably was talking about both Haiti and Congress, huh?;)

Duh...don't you get it? Both words are pronounced the same. The misspelling does not mean it was pronounced wrong.
