Great points Wayne.
From time to time, I'm struck by the notion of this BBS. A bunch of folks I've never met, and most likely never will, all hanging around this virtual community. Hearing of Warren being ill and Mark rallying the masses, Paul's pc on the fritz and CJFusco getting another book deal. Such as life in "Wayne's world" ( apologies - sometimes I can't help myself ) on any random day.I first found this BBS in mid '99 but only lurked till later. I've seen many folks come and go. I remember the birth of Wayne's first child. Some guy named "old skul" and followed BB1 almost from the beginning. I guess what I saying is this place feels kinda like a home. Corny, I suppose. Merry Christmas to all well wishes for the New Year!

Just this morning I read a small 'Christmas study' from England. Apparantly most people interviewed had little knowledge on the basic facts of why we celebrate Christmas. Questions like 'where was Jesus born' were answered with Nazaret, Babylon etc.
All a while the commercialization of Christmas takes on more absurd symptoms by the year. Less tradition, less religion - more greed, money and bad consciences. Merry Christmas and thanks for having the premier forum on the Internet, Wayne!

Wayne the adopting a family idea is great, I wish that my wife and I could come up with something like that. We would like to help families with TTTS, but we just haven't. I hope buy next year we will have come to terms with TTTS, and start to move on with life.
MERRY CHRISTMAS PELICANS!!

Thanks for everything you do, Wayne, and Merry Christmas to you and your very attractive family!
I have several opinions on the reasons for your success, but they all boil down to a positive attitude on people and life that I see in other innovators. Keep it up, and have a great '08!

Good stuff Wayne. We have a funny charity story for this year; when we were passing out clothes and blankets this one homeless man was not happy about our offer for shoes and proceeded to yell at us and even chased us off, lol.
Anyways, Merry Christmas to everyone ...

Kudos to you Wayne!
A retailer denouncing the commercialization of Christmas... what is this world coming to? It is the end of the world I tell you! Dogs and cats living together! Why... if this sort of thing keeps going on... Wayne could singlehandedly ruined the reputation we Porsche owners have worked so hard to establish as a group of self absorbed, arrogant, a-holes! I was talking to a coworker who was traveling back to Minnesota to visit his aging mother who is in bad health. I sympathized with him that when our parents get to be in there eighties it is difficult to buy presents for them... at their age they live a simple life and have pretty much everything they need or want. Without thinking I said to him, "At this point for them Christmas is more about us just being there."

Great stuff Wayne.
I don't know about everyone else, but I have enough "stuff" to last a lifetime. I don't need or want anymore, especially junk that's just purchased to tick my name off a list. It's great that you're promoting an alternative. We're on year 3 of all homemade gifts, we call it "Make it, Bake it, or I won't Take it". In teh days leading up to Christmas, we're in the kitchen instead of the mall. If someone is really stumped and doesn't want to make or bake anything, we ask that they give to their favorite charity instead. We're drawing a hard line this year, and any storebought gifts are going to a local shelter. Great looking family, by the way. Looks like a lot of love to go around. Merry Christmas!

Wayne: You're a young guy with many, diverse interests. You don't let money and success go to your head. You branch out and go a different direction. Your commitment to family and vacations in Hawaii speaks a lot about your true character.
As a very small measure of thanks, I sent in an order today for some brake and suspension parts....Merry Christmas....

Awesome letter. I mean it. Agreed. I too have everything I need and want. Anything else at this point is just a landfill depository, which is a problem in itself at this point anyway. You're teaching your children real values, and are teaching them the TRUE meaning of Christmas.
No, this doesn't sound like bragging. This sounds like healthy priorities, good hearts and a family of great values. God bless you and your family, Wayne And notfarnow.....awesome! Last edited by cool_chick; 12-23-2007 at 01:59 AM.. |

Wayne, this could even be expanded. You know how people ask you "what do you want for Christmas?" I always say "nothing, don't worry about it." I can't ever think of anything, I don't want anything. Then I get landfill items. Designate a charity or you can designate your adopted family and tell your extended family/friends "what you need." I need gas cards, sent to XYX. Or I need money sent to charity YXY. I'm doing that next year. Thanks for the great ideas, Wayne and Merry Christmas.
