Dear Speedeer.....I am tired of all the GW jokes......GW has my vote.....everybody was all worried about how messy this all could be and we shouldn't be going to war.......but look how easy and clean it all seems to be turning out..these guys keep turning out one success after another......look how Afgan turned out....the media was saying we couldn't get the job done before spring and with less than 200 USA troops on the ground Afgan fell before Christmas..... These guys in the WH know what they are doing... So take your Taliban loving idealogy back to Irack....Oh it isn't there anymore.....looks like you should go to North Korea then...

speeder apparently just wanted to echo "Saddams" post strike address where "Saddam" refered to GW as "the midget Bush".
I'm always amazed at the extent people will go, just to be counter-culture . .. against "The Man."

OK...I'm all for people having their own beliefs, opinions and the right to free speech...but I have to say this is something that really bugged me. I was watching the local news and there was a group of people in front of City Hall/Downtown PD chanting GW was a terrorist. It made me mad....gee I hope none of those people lost anyone on 9/11. I also wonder who they are going to turn & run to for help when/if a terrorist incident happens to them.
I support Geo and our troops and I hope the least amount of damage is done and as few people as possible die over there...but I think you can't deal rationally with an irrational dictator. Sorry...I guess I needed to do a mini vent. I usually stay out of political things.

well said sarah. i think pres. bush will be remembered as a man who because of the attack on america rose to greatness in formulating new us policy to combat terrorism. he is a man who takes his oath of office very seriously and who believes in god. he has my vote.

alot of the protesters opinions seem to be strait out of the 70's........this is a different time and a different type of war, they need to wake up to reality. unfortunately the only way i see this happening is another terrorist attack........i'd rather put up with their *****ing than that though. GW didn't get my vote last election but i feel we're in good hands with this situation (the fact that our military is what it is helps alot ![]()

Well, it's day three of the war and just wanted to say to anyone who previously accused me or other anti-war people of not "supporting the troops": Our military is the ONLY, and I repeat ONLY element of this entire mess that I respect. They are doing the job that they have been ordered to do w/ bravery and skill, and of course a major part of their code is to not question the politics of the mission.
Sadam Hussein is a POS who cares nothing about his own people, and is contemptable, and Bush is looking to me to be a gift from someone who hates us and wants us to make huge, stupid mistakes that we will pay for eternally. Combatting terrorism?? I would say more like guaranteeing it in the future. And our allies? NATO and the U.N.? Heck, we didn't need them anyways. ![]() I will admit that a certain percentage of those marching in the streets do not have a deep understanding of the issues, (as could be said for most of the right wing/talk radio crowd), but even a child can see the hypocrisy and BS we have been fed. In just one week the mission has changed from "disarming Iraq by force", (of weapons that they may or may not have, and I pray that they do not since we are in combat), to "freeing the Iraqi people", with the propaganda machine operating at a level that must make some dictators blush. The guys in the field I respect, the talking heads of our government I do not. And I mourn the casualties of the helicopter crashes that should never have happened. Bush is responsible for any lost lives, IMO. It's ironic how the same people around here who would never trust the government when it comes to emmission laws for cars, etc., now say that we should blindly trust them when there is overwhelming reason not to. Amazing. ![]()

And Liberals are all tired of Liberal jokes. And Clinton supporters are tired of Clinton jokes. And lawyers are tired of lawyer jokes. And blondes are tired of blonde jokes. And Polish people are tired of Pollock jokes. Suck it up - everyone's a target.

Speeder, I am with you. Few of the posters here understand what is really going on, who controls who in the administration and who ultimately calls the shots. It is obviously not GW. GW is a figure to whom the people can identify themselves with, and he does not have the IQ required to really run the country. Indeed, this may be why he is so popular...

Aurel - I noticed that you are living in NJ.
Just curious.....were you in NJ when the WTCs were hit and/or do you now know anyone who lost someone due to the attack that day? Also...do you like working/living in the US or are you only here due to your employer? I'm not trying to bash/flame you or anything...i'm just trying to understand where you are coming from, from past things you've posted in the political discussion threads. It just seems like you are not that "up" on the USA...unless it is just a GW administration thing.

You should recognize that the "greatest nation under god" (sic) does not need to be "taken down a notch," to make the world a safer place. It's amazing to me that someone as intelligent as you, is buying into the rhetoric of saddam/binladin. The US is not the enemy of the World. The US has, and will continue to make the World a safer place. We (the US) don't take military action lightly (esp this prez). We do see the benifit of getting along in this world. Rather than tying to take the US down a notch, why don't you focus on bringing up Sweden to the standard of taking a stand against dictators with WMD, rather than following french lead of enabling dictators with WMD. I promise you, thinking that dictators with WMD will make the world be a more balanced and safe place, is a HUGE miscalculation. equal kids play best with each other . . . when they have a supervising adult. ![]()

I would argue that someone could feel terrible about the WTC attacks and not believe that Iraq was behind them, since there is no credible evidence pointing to them being involved. If there was, our administration would have milked it for all it's worth, but they came up w/ snake eyes. Just as Bush conveniently switches justification for this attack on Iraq as previous arguments evaporate, (from 'disarming' to 'freeing the Iraqi people'), conservatives must learn to be fluid and adaptable in their rationalizations.
![]() A much better argument would be that wrong-headed foreign policy in the middle east for generations has wrought the problems that we are encountering at present. Some have been saying, "screw what we did in the past, this is now", and my favorite, "what difference does it make how intelligent our president is? I think that he is doing a great job". The answer to both is that all great leaders have a deep understanding of history and world affairs, and I would argue that nowhere is this truer than in the middle east. Old saying: "all readers aren't leaders, but all leaders are readers". Except ours. And we will pay much more than the price of his parents' wasted money at Yale for this fact. And lastly, the notion that all immigrants/foreign nationals who move here or visit are obliged to immediately join the Republican party is really laughable. ![]()

Speeder -Shifting the argument to "how intelligent our president is," will not negate the problem at hand.
edit: The sub-text of what you are saying is "our president is the problem". I disagree.
