Sleep aid question...product

Hello
Anyone here ever use the new SLEEP MD product as seen on TV? I have been totally awake since 1:30 am Tuesday, not even a second of sleep and need to knock my arse out! I must be in a medical residency and don't know it!

If so how did it work for you?

Lay of the Meth.

I've done some work in the "As seen on TV" industry. The advertised products do work but what is often presented is the best case/most optimal result.

I'd check with a doc to see what's going on with you. Let him prescribe something FDA approved.

No Meth and I will take that that was a joke, thanks.

I know what my issue is and it is a temp thing. Dr can't save me on this, may lock my behind up and do not want to go the narcotic route. Those are more of a problem than anything. Thanks guys

'Sleep MD' is basically just melatonin, an aspiriin relative and a bunch of other crap. Prolly pretty worthless. Study of Valerian proved it worthless.

Did you try just plain melatonin? Supposedly works marginally for a very few people.

Go to a doc, stress? Pain? what's going on?

That was a joke.

Hope it did not offend.

Was not the intention.

I would suggest hitting a local Vitamin shop. Should be a good choice of Natural sleep aids available that are not habit forming.

If the staff are knowledgeable they should be able to offer solutions.

unisom (otc) knocks me out and i sleep really deeply, but a whole one leaves me a 'unizombie' for a good part of the next day. if you can drink caffeine in the am, i'd suggest it.

also tylenop pm or the generic works, too. i usually prefer this one unless i can really sleep in, then i prefer the unisom. but this one generally allows me to sleep through the night with less 'hangover'. my problems are related to having way too much on my mind..

If you are afraid of your Dr. I suggest you get a new Dr.

I am no expert but I hear there are a lot of new non narcotic sleep aids available with a prescription.

YMMV

Edit: A friend swears by unisom, didn't work for me... took one and woke up after a few hours... took two and it gave me the spins.

Yeah, tylenol PM knocks me out but leaves me feeling hungover in the AM.

NyQuil?

I use something called 'sleepy time tea'. It has a picture of a teddy bear in a rocking chair on it. I find it really relaxes me out and helps me sleep. No hangover, dizzyness, or any of that nonsense.

But if your sleeping problem is really bad you should talk to a doctor and find out what the problem is. It could just be some easy to change habbits at home. I know I looked up the sleep institute once. They had a list of 10 recommendations, turns out they really helped.

Read on: www.sleepfoundation.org

and good luck

No offense taken guy!

Unisom type/benadrine is a major no no, puts me down for 2 days and have top refer to my ID to see who I am

Ambien worked for a short nap but not the controlled release version.

Love my Dr. -Internal Med...I call him Dr. House

Sex requires a partner, got a spare to lend or am I stuck w/going solo?

What is wrong....worried to not see my toes wiggle in the AM but seriously.........stress and pain. I have pain meds but do not put me down. The other I just need to get a grip on the situation causing the stress, sleep would help greatly there.

Melatonin....Mom did and got little from it so I blew it off.

Perhaps I need to find a pasture and "graze".......think 60's here folks!j/k

The vitamin idea is where I was headed for this SLEEP MD stuff. I would like personal testimonies rather than a salesman leading me to a product, but not ruling it out.

Thanks a ton gents!

Dal
