shipping a dismantled car?
I need to ship my disassembled jaguar out east. Are there crates that can be brought to the house and picked up by a truck? This thing is going from Cal to the midwest.
Any info from the brain-trust would be appreciated. Shawn

dissassembled? how thorough ?
body panels , engine , suspension? all in pieces? i mean, the chassis won't fit in any boxes or crates anyway so either , you'll need a truck and either lift it on there with a crane of sorts drive wherever you want to go, and then figure out a way to lift it off the truck again or find a trailor and roll it on there, the latter is the easier solution, since you can also simply fill the chassis with all the parts... and be done with it in one go, body panels take just as much time to bolt back on then it does to package em so they don't get dinged and scratched

car is a series 2 e-type. Everything is stripped off the tub, so does not roll except on various dollies I jam under it.
I like the pods idea. Hopefully the buyer will be interested in this option. I knew this was gonna be a pain! thanks for the responses. Shawn

What?!?!

The PODS will be far and away the easiest thing. Other options include palleting the various parts, securing them to the pallets using ty wraps/shipping straps and covering with shipping wrap. The body would be the biggest challenge. Short of mounting shipping dollies, I don't know how it could be safely loaded.
