more dumb...
There's a house down the street in my neighborhood that's been on and off the market for the past 6 years or so. I went to look at it during one of it's many open house showings. It was dark, musty and generally uninviting. About 2 years ago it sells for almost $1M! Double what any of the houses around it could get. It had a bunch or rowdies living there for a short time, but has been mostly empty since. Last winter it sat with its back door wide open and the pipes broke flooding the place. The floors looked like ice rinks. Now it's derelict, overgrown and for sale from the lender at $500K. What a disaster.

throw them in jail and let bubba bang them. greed and stupidity deserves it.

People who are like that have the idea that they are bullet-proof. If for once they actually did think about what they were doing they wouldn't have the hubris or ubber-confidence to do it.
Next time you tee up for a drive don;t even think you gonna shank or you will. |

We had a scam in the towns south of Rochester a few years ago that was a variation on this theme. In our local case, 2 brothers ran a scam using new houses they were building, straw buyers, crooked appraisers and loan officers. Like the guys in BH, I can't believe they seriously thought they would get away with it(they scammed a bank in the Northwest, maybe WaMu, which was far removed from the physical market and local knowledge), I think they were surprised when the music stopped. They ended up in ClubFed.
