$39k for an 07 Boxster...good deal?

I was at the local stealership picking up some misc parts (including one of those porsche coffee mugs ) last night, and was checking out a silver base model cayman (something I hope to have in a few years), and chatting with some random salesman.

He tells me he's got a black on black 07 boxster in stock that he wants to move and is offering it for $39k.

This seems like a pretty good deal, so I took his card to pass along to my father (a man who was looking at miatas this past spring, but might step up to the plate in 08).

Just a heads up in case anyone wants a new boxster. 39k - if that really is the price - is only 4k more than the 08 VW Golf R32 I drove the other day....

Please note that *I* was not looking at Boxsters.

39k would be a nice d.p. on a ski condo or multifamily slum lord kind of thing, if I were spending that kind of money...

Garage
Invoice on a base 2007 Boxster is $38,760 without any options. They could just be looking to turn inventory.
