ok car/truck freaks; anyone read any magazine articles about half ton diesels?

been hearing rumors...anyone read about one? i have seen other threads talk about a 4.4 liter ford diesel, installed into a half ton rig. i need a new truck very very soon. i have been playing hard to get with the local dodge dealer. (i may buy used anyways) the leading choice for me currently, is the dodge 2500, 4x4. the main reason being, it seems to be the smallest physically. i need to haul things, (my 911, for hopefully some very long distances), and use it doing outdoorsy stuff.

the same thread mentioned a toyota half ton diesel. WTF? is this gonna happen? the only article i have read with my own two eyes, is about a 2009 nissan maxima with a turbo diesel. i can wait a bit for a new smaller rig.

I've been wanting a half-ton diesel for years. Unfortunately, my last truck didn't last long enough for me to get one...

The big three will all be making half ton diesels. I remember reading the articles on autoblog some time ago. Ford borrowed the range rover diesel engine and added two more cylinders to it (making it a v8), chevy is making a v8 diesel that has dimensions identical to the small block, and cummins got the contract to build chrysler a light duty diesel for there half ton truck. Should expect them to start maybe going on sale within 1-3 years.
