Geez I get home today and I see that two really cool threads have been deleted.. ( ok both were the Britney Spears death pool)..
Some harmless fun.. What happened to our sense of humor on this board??
I can't imagine we let one wimpy complaint destroy a whole thread...
Would someone try to explain ??

Might be a good idea to review the rules for this forum(posted right near the top).. That explains it to me very clearly.

Because that one is totally subjective, and about 90% of what is posted here could be deemed "objectionable".. Let's start with ,, uhm I'm Muslim and I find girls in bikini's blasphamous in God's eyes,, yeah that's it,, and I think scantily clad women objectionable..

Wayne's house, Wayne's rules. He can edit or delete you for even questioning the policy if he wants to. IMHO, he/the moderators do a great job. The big thing I love about PP forums, is the civility (for the most part). And if some posts that they find scantily clad women objectionable, they should be banned for cause!

Bring on the bikinis! Just don't show any milk fountain spouts...or where babies come from!

There have to be rules, but if taken to excess, everything is objectionable to at least a few.

Pray that it never gets to a point where we can upset no one!!

I totally agree, that's why I am shocked that that thread was yanked, her demise is nothing that CNN, FNN, and others are predicting. We just put a small humorous slant on it..

I actually liked the Brittany death pool one. I thought nostatic should have kept it, but he's the moderator. I'm certainly not going to argue with him, he's been entrusted with the keys to the car, so to speak by Wayne. I'm a true guest in someone else's house, and I'm not going to argue with my host about the brand of refreshments that he's serving.

I didn't see Brit's pool. I guess I missed some black humor?

On other black humor girl stuff I figure if a 10 year old can't figure it out you're safe.

Someone told Z man they were offended and he pulled mine. It had a wacky title, but the content was innocuous. Eh, whatever. If it bothers you (someone) enough to actually complain, I guess it *could* be offensive. In light of other events around PP this week, it doesn't matter to me.

as a moderator, I generally try to *not* delete threads or posts. I'm of the mind that people here are adults and they can take care of themselves. But when people specifically complain I feel that I should at least consider the request. Often I do not take action though...it is always a balancing act.

In this case I locked the first Britney thread ONLY due to the recent passing of Warren and the complaint that given the circumstances people were rather sensitive and it was in very poor taste. I'll buy that argument. If it were a month ago, I would have just let it fly.

We all know what Britney's outcome will be anyway. Surely there are more interesting topics to discuss. Like, for example, Lindsay Lohan.

Obviously there are enough PC-obsessed, uptight, panties-in-a-wad, hand-wringing ninnies on this forum where a little dark humor involving joking at our own mortality is somehow "verboten".

However, it's Wayne's forum, Wayne's rules. If he (or his moderators) think someone (me included) crosses the line, I can certainly respect that. If it's me, I'll certainly be the first to stand up and apologize to them for any indiscretion.

However, in the case of a bunch of uptight prudes who aren't moderators but want to "play one on TV" because an innocent joke about a trainwreck of an individual like Brittany Spears happens to hurt their poor widdle eyes or whatever, I have a hard time respecting that. To me, it's just more evidence of just how screwed-up this country is today as a result of this "PC" nonsense. I CAN'T respect that at all. Life isn't always pretty. People get hurt. People die. It's part of our reality. People can't all be winners, can they? Not everyone deserves to stand on the podium or get a trophy. That's life. For one, I prefer to call stuff as I see it - not as I would necessarily like it to be.

I guess I'll just stick to the Brittany pool we have going in the office for my amusement. C'mon August 12! :)

I just don't understand how in a simple thread about a flag, one member here can spout off a variety of racial slurs - some indirectly aimed at my wife - and that's ok, but a pic of a girl in a bikini is too much. It's Wayne's house, so whatever, but it just reminds me, that in general, the world sucks.

That's not totally true,, Wayne has always said the the forum is basically PG rated,, and I'm ok with that..The bikini comment was to make a point that we can't cowtow to every idiot on here that finds something offensive,, they can always close the thread........ Just don't think that a simple death pool was R rated....
