E30 rear wheel bearings... How bad??
Well, it sounds like the Driver's side rear wheel bearings are going out on my E30. While driving down the road there is an evil whirring sound coming from the driver's rear wheel, but if you pull some moderate g-forces to the right, the car is silent. Testing the theory, if you pull hard g's to the left it gets louder.
So, how much of a pita are they to change? From the parts page here @ our host, it would appear they are the nasty double bearing, single race, press-in style bearings ![]() Of course, I let someone borrow my copy of Wayne's awesome "101" book, so I don't have that as a reference point right now. TIA, Nick

If you have all the tools to do it, it isn't bad. If you try to do it with makeshift tools, it can be a real, real PITA. BTDT. You need to have the right pullers and presses to get the stub axle out, get the bearings in and out, etc.
