Today is the day

Reasons the Tigers will win tonight:

1. Focus, In Les Miles first 2 yrs at LSU, he won his bowl games by a combined 81-17.

2. Explosiveness, LSU beat 2 bowl teams Mississippi State and Virginia Tech by a combined score of 93-7 in its first two games.

3. Health, healthy Tigers knocked starting quarterbacks out of the game in each of their first five contests.

4. Location, location, location. The Tigers haven't lost in the Dome in a decade.

5. Strength of Schedule, teams with the stronger strength of schedule nearly always win bowl games (LSU 14, OSU 39)

6. The SEC, the SEC is 6-2 so far in Bowls.

7. Reality, OSU is 0-8 against the SEC in Bowl games.

8. The Hat!

9. The best defense in the country. Some names to listen for tonite, Glen Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, Darry Beckwith, Ali Highsmith, Chevis Jackson, Jonathan Zenon and my personal favorite, Craig Steltz.

10. Too much power & speed on offense. If they're lucky, most teams have two effective running backs. LSU has five: Jacob Hester, Keiland Williams, Charles Scott, Richard Murphy and the small but incredibly fast Trindon Holliday. Hester is the man with over 1,017 yards and 11 TDs, and with the other four helped LSU average 219 yards on the ground. Hester has a heart the size of Secretariat's.

I think you're gonna have a bad night Mule:D

I picked LSU before the season even started (I should dig that up), but their offense is prone to letting them down against speed defenses. Ohio State (whom I hate) is a speed defense.

I predict a very good game but OSU pulls it out.

Rooting for LSU here. I think they're the better team, plus I just can't stand Ohio in general.

Hey now! :D

Names to listen for when LSU is on defense. Craig Steltz, SS, leads the team in tackles & brings "the house," Ali Highsmith, LB, Darry Beckwith, LB, Glenn Dorsey (of course), Kirston Pittman, Marlon Favorite & Tyson Jackson. If Beanie can run through that group, he should be elected president. Should the run fail, they can throw against Chevis Jackson (4 int), Jonathan Zenon (3 int) & Steltz (6 int).

Names to listen for when LSU is on offense, the heart of the Tiger offense, RB Jacob Hester, Early Doucet, Brandon LaFell (matched up against CB Chimdi Chekwa), Chimdi better eat his fellafel. RBs Charles Scott & Trindon (faster than a speeding bullet) Holiday, WR Demitrius Byrd and of course Matt Flynn and Ryan Perriloux. This crew has scored more points than any team in LSU history against a schedule that would give OSU nightmares.

If OSU manages to keep it close, 28-21 LSU. If the Tigers hit their stride, 45-10 LSU

I'd love to ride the SEC bandwagon and see LSU wipe them out, but I was not impressed with LSU's performance in the SEC championship game. Tennessee was by no means the strongest team in the SEC east, but ended up in the game anyway and LSU really struggled (and barely won) the game. Had LSU manhandled Tennessee, I'd feel a little better. I'm a Tennessee fan, FWIW.

The Tigers are the healthiest they've been in months. Tonight you'll see the team that beat VT 48-7, not the team that lost to AK in 3 overtimes. Remember, going into bowl season they'd beaten the #3, #12, #16 & #23 teams in the country.

lendaddy 01-07-2008 08:48 AM

Though LSU's schedule was tough it didn't even make the top 15 hardest imho.

Given that, OSU's didn't make the top 70 :D

Overpaid Slacker 01-07-2008 09:17 AM

I'm pulling for LSU to win ... I hope they crush THE Ohio State University, and by so doing, definitively establish the Tigers as the third or fourth best team in the country. :D

Wonder if these ratings will be down, as the other BCS ratings have been?

LSU sos was #14 according to Sagarin, OSU was 39. BTW I couldn't find USC on the list.

Just keep digging that hole, you'll be to China soon enough ;)

Thanks, off to pick up a hat like Les Miles wears. I hope to be wearing it with a National Championship that I hope to pick up tomorrow.

Note to Sammy & RoachBeGone: Although I will have a hat like Les Miles wears, this does not mean that I think I am, or am trying to get someone else to think I am, LSU coach, Les Miles. I hope this avoids any confusion.

Two things I want to see in the paper tomorrow, how bad LSU lost to OSU, and how bad Hillary lost. Or, if I only get one, let it be LSU LOST TO OSU. I can wait for Hillary to lose again.
Buy a nice tender hat Mule, I want to see you eat it.

The fact is that LSU SHOULD win this game tonight, because they are the more talented and better team over all. Ohiohate does not have much other than Beanie Wells on offense. On Defence, Laurinitis is sorta good and Gholston is a stud...but overall their talent level pales compared to LSU. I had a chance to watch both teams several times this season....against Michigan, ohiohate rolled up 14 points on a team that couldnt move the ball because the QB Henne was trying to throw with a seperated shoulder which was numbed by cortisone suffering nerve damage. Mike Hart was playing on one leg also....and ohiohate despite great field position all day could only muster 14 against a Michigan D that was not all that great this year.
That + losing to a decent Illinois team at home, tells us all that ohiohate is lucky to be in this game actually.

LSU 28
ohiohate 17

8 minutes left in the 1st quarter...Mule, you getting uncomfortable yet??? Really too early to tell...still, I'm rooting for Ohio State. You are the reason...anybody that rabid about a college football team? Sheesh!

Go M.I.T. ! Go, Caltech! Oh, wait a second...neither of these schools has a team. Silly them...they just turn out future contributors to society.
