Take a minute to think about it and always remember to ask yourself ....Why?

Tabs is one of those people that alternates between a knowledgable, informative guy and a borderline internet bully/tiresome self-proclaimed know-it-all.

carnutzzz 01-08-2008 11:31 AM

I dig that song.

I'm not a huge KR fan, but I like quite a few of his songs, and quite a few of his lyrics.

I admire his determination- he knew what he wanted and he grinded it out until it happened. He said he was "Going Platinum" -and then he did.

If I ever came into some money I too would buy a yacht with a flag saying "Chillin' The Most", then I'd rock that b1tch up and down the coast...

nynor 01-08-2008 11:33 AM

yep, the song sucks. pop sentimentalism at it worst. "i've been trying to find myself..." blah blah blah... was there a single line that didn't have a cliche?

skipdup 01-08-2008 11:38 AM

Sounds like my Commodore 64 singing.

Show me a single song anywhere on the charts that you couldn't say the same thing about. They all sound the same if you listen close enough. The only thing unique about this song is that KR got paid this time 'round.
Now back on topic........

Why should I be the one to have to say it? If you don't already know the truth I doubt there is anything I can say to make you SEE it.

nynor 01-08-2008 11:59 AM

um... pop sucks. period. that was part of my point. this is a fine example of a sucky song. it sucks.

Tab's is the repository of all knowledge on the internet. Other than a slightly simplified vision of world history and the common misunderstanding that Hitler and Stalin were aborations of history instead of being the logical culmination of their countries' histories, all that is good and true lies with Tabby. The laws of grammar, punctuation (and thankfully) spelling do not apply to the great Tabs'. His words are perfect, meaning nothing more or less than he intends, and your misunderstanding of them reflect the reader's misperception of them; not Tab's failure to communicate. On matter of taste, he is infallible, except for the time he offered me a painting for a mere $1,500 when it was worth tens of thousands. But he made up for that oversight by pulling the painting before I had time to figure out what I had.

Tabby, when's the art store going to open again? MRM needs some watercolors.

Now the question is which one is the real me...If logic would prevail one would surmise that an "*********" couldn't possibly make informed or knowledgable comments, but an "informative guy" could put on the guise of an "*******."

In other words you can take a country boy out of the country, but U can't take the country outa the boy.

Not a bad song if you can get past the self absorbed, crybaby rockstar lyrics.

Aborations...LOL what is that prey tell?

Hitler did represent the darker side of the European psych. however his coming to power was still a fluke of the perfect storm. In that sense Hitler wasn't an aberration of history.

Stalin..was a far more venal darkster..and was much more an aberration of history than Hitler. Hitler in a sense over threw a political system and molded it to his own way of thinking. Hitler also depended up his followers to do his bidding as a charismatic leader. Stalin ruthlessly worked within the already established Soviet system to take control and depended upon no one to maintain that control. If Stalin had a different personality, the Soviet Union would have been a different place.

Stalin had no regard for anyone or anything and was all about self aggrandizement, Hitler on the other hand had a vision for the German people and nation. Hitler was about something greater than himself. Hitler saw himself as being the instrument of that vision. Stalin had no vision of a greater good. For Stalin it was all about maintaining power.

Even Mao had the greater good of China in mind.

The Art store is going to be open soon.

TAB S - music is an expression of the soul. For what ever reason, that song has touched some souls. I will have to admit that when I heard it just a few minutes ago which was right after I read your post to my 3:30AM thread, the first thing that jumped out at me was "Man, this sounds like what TABS was writing to me". Even more interesting was the fact that your opion/observation of my plight albeit sweet was misguided and incorrect.

If someone was to tell me that my long hair was repulsive I would consider it absurd and would give it zero emotion because I don't have long hair. If you were to comment on the fact that my blatent killing of helpless animals, beating of small children and stealing from the elderly was abhorent I would think you should lay off the crack pipe because those are not true. How can one get so wrapped up and passionate about something that doesn't touch there soul on some level. So that brings me to my point. Its called projection which I know you know something about because you are very well read and are no stranger to the works of Jung.

Now over the years, I have observed you to post to those threads that you have an opinion on or can provide banter but even your banter can sting - but thats cool. The sting shows insight and passion. This brings us back to the premise that you have some very strong projection going on here. It shows up in your opion of history and other things including this song.

I am not a big fan of Kid Rock (although we do have something in common which I don't think anyone else on the bored does - we both have had repeated sexual relations with the same women) but that song is actually good in terms of lyrics. I don't know if he actually wrote it but it falls in line with his persona and I can see this as an antheim to anyone who can't understand why they put themselves in a situation where they are taken away from the things they miss. God only knows. Its a good song for those who can relate or appreciate. I can do both. Its a shyty song for those who have an ubber-sensitiveity on the pop-o-meter to wit I can only say "please tell me which songs touch your soul or speak to you in a tongue not spoken"?

TABS - I think this song scares you because it brings up things plainful to address or experiences that have gone unrelized. If not, you would have moved on.

Tabs
"Even Mao had the greater good of China in mind. "

Even Ho started with only the interests of Viet Nam, to his last day I still think his main goal was a free Viet Nam.

But then there was Pol Pot, not at all the same.

Hmmm.....Interesting question. I've never thought about it, but I have never seen Tab's and Chuck Norris together at the same time. It certainly fits. I guess the question is, does Tabs' support southern baptist ministers for POTUS?

I didn't even listen to the whole song..so I can't even tell U what it is about..just that Kid Rocks doesn't have it....Now Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" is something to listen to. It is about an old mans regrets.

Well Lubby I go to the Universality of mens feelings and think what would make me think or feel that way...

So please enlighten us as to what it is that is the causative agent.

BTW: Ambition has crossed my mind...as a driving agent...or should I say it is a driving agent...

MRM 01-08-2008 01:39 PM

Not that there's anything wrong with it.
