I don't know what you guys are smoking. AU has a winning record against SEC teams.

SIX in a row against Bama. Though, Bama does have more total wins.

More wins against UGA than losses. This game is always a battle (this year excluded).

More wins against UF than losses - two in a row.

LSU is currently winning the series. But, in recent history, that has been a brutal series that no one can call.

Winning against UT.

Wasn't Tuberville like the third winningest coach in college football?

Geesh.

Auburn has one less SEC championship than Florida... :rolleyes:

When was last time a college game was played in a blizzard. This is a weak excuse at best

but since you asked...Im going to do it anyway. The following is from an article in the Detroit Free Press, by Michael Rosenberg... the link is at the bottom.

I would hope that you can READ and will bother to READ and UNDERSTAND.

"NO ONE IS SAYING THE SEC IS NOT THE STRONGEST CONFERENCE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM BUT THE ALLEGED "DOMINANCE" IS SIMPLY YOUR SPIN

FACTS:

"Since 2000, NFL teams have drafted 59 Ohio State Buckeyes. Twenty-eight of those 59 were first-day picks -- guys drafted in the first three rounds.

No SEC team can match that. Not one.

The top talent producer in the SEC (by draft picks) is Tennessee, which has had 50 players chosen and 27 on the first day.

Since 2000, the 11 Big Ten teams have produced an average of 26.8 draft picks per school. The 12 SEC teams have produced 27.3 picks per school. That is half a player per school over an eight-year period. So it's basically a wash.

Over those eight years, the average SEC team has produced 12.6 first-day draft picks. The average Big Ten team has produced 10.6. In other words, the typical SEC team has produced one extra first-day pick every four years compared with a typical Big Ten counterpart.

Does that sound like a huge talent gap?

Did you know that Michigan State, a second-tier Big Ten team since 2000, has produced as many NFL draft picks (28) as SEC power Auburn? Hey, it surprised the heck out of me. But it's true. (All draft stats are courtesy of the incredibly comprehensive drafthistory.com.)

Propagators of the SEC Myth point out that Ohio State is 0-9 against the SEC but fail to mention that Michigan's Lloyd Carr was 5-2 in bowls against SEC teams. (This lends a rock-paper-scissors quality to the discussion: The SEC beats Jim Tressel, Tressel beats Carr, and Carr beats the SEC.)

SEC Mythologists don't mention that the top three teams in the Big Ten all played road games this bowl season: Ohio State faced Louisiana State in Louisiana, Illinois faced Southern California in southern California, and Michigan faced Florida in Florida.

The logic behind the SEC Myth is self-perpetuating. When Kentucky beats LSU, it is held up as proof of SEC depth. When Northwestern beats Michigan, people say the Big Ten is weak."

So, we can't win on the field. So we make ourselfs look good some other way, WEAK.

The Michigan, ohiohate game this season was played in low 30s freezing rain, blowing winds...it was freaking miserable outside. I was up there but watching it in a cozy restaurant.

skipdup 01-10-2008 07:03 PM

Bowl record this season:

* SEC: 7-2

* Pac-10: 4-2

* Big 12: 5-3

* Big Ten: 3-5

* ACC: 2-6

* Big East: 2-2

The SEC set an all-time record with 7 bowl victories in one season.

Clearly, SEC is dominant.

Handicapping with what-ifs about weather is weak. Again, let them boys come down and play in the heat.

Sonic dB 01-10-2008 07:11 PM

no one is handing out "what ifs" dude...my take on it:

Ohio State and Michigan are as talented as any teams in the country, just about.
OSU has choked 2 times in a row in BCS NC game, but they did win one a few years back
against a good Miami Team.

Michigan is loaded and when their guys are healthy can beat anyone, as they showed against
Florida and Heisman winner TBow. Michigan has declined on the field in 2 of the past 3 years, primarily due to Coaching. It is rumoured that Lloyd Carr has had Parkinsons for a few years, and even if that is not true, what is true is that he lost his intensity in about 01 and his teams have shown lots of undisplined play....the injuries this year hurt them but when they finally got healthy they were good.

Wisconsin is a strong program and almost beat Tenn in the away-game bowl game.
Illinois is a newbie and really had no business going to the bowl game.
Penn State is good and will return to Great again when Jo Pa retires.
the rest of the Big Ten are also rans which weakens the overal conference...

so, I am not making excuses for anything...\
Michigan 23-5 Vs. SEC including 5 out of past 7...
if the other teams arent taking care of business that is there problem.

Your teams would not do as well playing in cold freezing rain in November vs. cosy confines of warm South..

but it is what it is....and you SEC fans are going to spin it your way no matter what.
Your conferance is the best. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mule 01-10-2008 08:18 PM

Sonic, all your guys have to do is win & you avoid all this agony. Or you can move south & back a winner! You can also avoid most of that freezing rain you seem to think shows real skill on the football field.

WI almost beat TN? You must not have watched. I'm a Volunteer fan & I was feeling sorry for that QB. The Vols beat that poor boy to death. Regardless of how good a football player he is, the kid's no punk! That boy had some nads to take that beating & not wave the white flag. I was waiting to see a replay of Rocky yelling "cut me." Since you think weather only works in your favor, bring your weasels down to death valley on a hot September night & your boys will be ripping the iv's out 'cause they are puking. Stupid argument.

Thanks Mule, I would keep that in mind but what would I do about:

a) I lived in Nashville for 3 years in the 90s...great town, lots of great people
and women, but the Tenn fans made me want to puke.

and most importantly....

b) I ALREADY DO back a WINNER. My Family had Season Tickets and my dad was Alumini of.....

THE University of Michigan. aka "the Winningist College Football Program of ALL Time!
#1 in WINS
#1 in WINNING PERCENTAGE

And before you poo-poo those accomplishments with your SEC Spin...why not take a moment to appreciate the magnitude of what Michigan Football has accomplished.... and.... perhaps you could use your imagination...and appreciate it even more if LSU (your program) had achieved the same thing (which they have not but still a good program)...

oh well, at least you have Les Miles...and he knows the power of the BLUE.

I think it may be Les Miles???

Mule 01-11-2008 05:18 AM

So then what's with all the whining Sonic? Although it was not the beat down you tried to make it sound like, your team won it's bowl (over a stout SEC team). My team beat your biggest rival for the Championship. What is your issue?

k9handler 01-11-2008 06:07 AM

it's all ego talk until the top teams play one another for a Championship. It sure would be nice to be able to brag about your team/alumni knowing they actually played the best teams in the nation, in a playoff system when it counts! Basketball manages to do it, so I am sure they could as well.

Mule 01-11-2008 06:21 AM

Guess who's fighting the hardest against that? Pac 10 & Big 10.

k9handler 01-11-2008 06:23 AM

of course, the BCS keeps the Big teams in the money.

Well, I don't know if you'd call it a "blizzard", but the 2000 Independence bowl (TX A&M vs. Miss St.) had driving snow (25 MPH winds and they had to plow the field @ halftime)....Maybe not a blizzard, but pretty cool for a bowl game in Louisiana!

Southern teams would have no problem in the cold. Invigorating...
Now the other way around with heat/humidity....that's a challenge.

Look out SEC boosters.
Tell your programs that they are on warning...
the dont want to run into the Michigan Wolverines
any time soon. 23-5-1 vs. SEC opponents is about to
become even larger.

These are the men that will lead the #1 program
of all time, further into the 21st Century.

We don't have to woory about Ohio State in 2008....they play USC in Sept., season over for OSU.

Mule 01-12-2008 07:44 AM

Point made. Hey Bolt, you didn't happen to be around when Slammin Sammy was in KTown, were you. His story was that he was insulting folks up and sown the strip on game day & they were too stupid to even realize he was insulting them. Wouldn't you like to have some video of that!:D:p:D
