AAA.

Once I called them at 10pm on a weeknight on the way home from work, driving my 356 - happened to be Sept 19th, Ferry Porsche's birthday. Told 'em I needed a flat bed, they said no problem. Called back 20 min later, telling me all flatbeds available in the area were busy. Do I know of any other cities they should check? List off a few of the smaller area towns, still no dice. So, they were willing to send one to me in Gainesville, Fl. from Savannah, Ga - a 225 mile drive each way.

Turns out a lady drove past, her husband managed an independant Porsche repair place until the early 70s, she made him get out of bed and come help me. Turns out he helped my Dad find what is now my 356 to buy to replace a '63 that was totaled, and had done all the work on the car early in its life. Turns out my dist clamp was loose and the timing just took a long walk and went AWOL. Got me fixed enough to get home... was it St. Ferry? One has to wonder....

Wow, I'd never heard of Betterworld before. Does anyone have any experience with 'em?

I understand many folks on this board shudder at anything that sounds so green, but mostly I'm looking for a working alternative that isn't anti-public-transit, and am willing to pay a little more for it (~$20 a year maybe).
