I had two (upper and lower right side) removed in Korea > Camp Page in 1974.... evaded the docs for the rest of my tour and the other two are still with me.. no problems

Mine caused me incredible pain, granted I was 20 or so at the time. I paid extra for a specialist that used a laser to cauterized the holes rather than have stitches. I was out partying the very same day, in the evening. I had a shoot to do the following Saturday as I was making money modeling while I was in college, so I opted for the quick recovery. All four and I never really knew it happened.

Had all 4 plus 1 rear lower molar that got destroyed in the process (lnog story and I'm out the door in 2 minutes) out in dec 04...I was 26, kinda old to have it done, right?

The lowers get ya because they sit in the jawbone whereas the uppers sit in softer tissue, IIRC. Oxycodone and lots of sleep. Miserable for 2 days and then a fairly quick recovery thereafter. Apparently - they put me under - when I came to I requested a notepage, and scribbled 'can we go to mcdonalds now?

I haven't eaten mcdonalds' food since december 3, 1996 (don't ask).

The sedative f'ed me up good, I guess.

Just had all 3 of mine pulled out last Monday. All impacted, one bony impaction, all done under general anaesthetic.

Wasn't given any painkillers other than over the counter stuff. Absolutely no swelling, no bleeding since 2 hours after surgery.

The skill of the surgeon makes all the difference! Mine sent a massive bill to my health insurer!

Still on soft foods by choice though as I have 2 MASSIVE sockets that could easily get clogged up with food bits.

Langers, that sounds exactly like me. I did some digging, and can't seem to find any stitches. I do have one gapeing whole though. I have a teeny bit of swelling, but I have kept some frozen corn on it per the advice above, works great! I have all the narcotics and pain killers, but I am just not into that kind of stuff. If it starts to hurt I might take one or two, just using advil right now.

I had all four taken out at once. Two were impacted. Going in, it was the worst thing I could imagine. I had seen pics of a friend and the aftermath and I was with my ex-wife when hers were pulled. I told the doctor, that there was no way I'll be awake. He could knock me out with a baseball bat if needed.

After, everything was fine. No swelling and I ate a few Taco Bell Burritos about 12 hours later. The massive holes did preset some problems, but I was sent home with a syringe thingy to clean them out. I did have stitches, but no problems having them removed.

I am glad all are out and it wasn't nearly as painful as I thought.

You know you're in trouble when the dentist hooks up a heart monitor!

Ouch!
Feel better soon.

In the one pic, it looks like He took a shortcut and pulled it out of your nose. :D

With all the Pelicans who had their wisdom teeth out in the last week or two, we should have negotiated a group buy!
Tom, the Advil, and ice will help to keep the swelling down, and result in a quicker recovery. I told my son about you last night, and he said that he used lima beans, and not corn, but that peas will work as well. Stay with the ice, and Advil, and it will all be over before you know it.
