A MARRIED couple have had their union annulled - after discovering they were twins.

The twins were separated at birth and not told they had any siblings. They were adopted by different families, and - amazingly - as adults they met, fell in love and married.

That would really suck. You meet the love of your life, get married and then somehow learn that the women you married and been having sex with is your sister. How messed up would you feel after that.?

I am surprised that they didn't think it was odd that they were both adopted and had the same birthday, and I presume resembled each other to a certain degree.

There was a show on 60 Minutes about sperm donors "fathering" hundreds of kids. I think there should be a way of figuring out who your relatives are if you are adopted, or at least have a compatibility check to make sure the above doesn't happen.

Pity. I wonder if the primitive, biological aversion against inborn breeding is the most powerful feeling - or the opinion of society. Both I assume. But then, as I understand, inborn breeding is practiced in certain societies and they seem happy with it - albeit looking funny.

You need to visit some of the out islands in the Bahamas. Go to the local cemetery and just about everyone has one of two last names and they've been there since colonial times. There are quite a few funny looking people there.

There is - blood tests. They used to do blood tests to confirm there was no chance of relationship. Don't know why they stopped. When I got married I was told by some people I'd have to do one, but when we applied for the license (read: tax) they said they stopped doing that years ago.

That would absolutely, unconditional, definitely suck to find out you're married to your sister. Uggh, I'm getting skin crawlies just thinking about it!

Let's hear from a doctor, when the embryo splits into twins, has the sex already been established? Or does that happen after? You, know, identical twins (egg split) versus paternal (one of each sex-meaning usually two separate eggs. I've never heard of conjoined twins of the opposite sex, although I suppose its possible.

I think society is probably making a bigger deal of it then it should be.
