Hypothetical situation: Without GIRLS...
would BARS be so profitable? I submit that they would not.
Pelicans: discuss!

Guys would still be drinking, maybe even more than they do now. The thing that may make a difference is that without girls, they may just drink at home instead of going to bars.
Bars for the <25 crowd would be hit really hard if there were no women since it's more about looking for girls. Bars frequented by the 35< crowd probably wouldn't see near as much of a hit since it's probably more about getting away from things (job, wife, etc...)

Without Girls...Mankind would eventually die off in about 50-75 years.
But we will have a good time drinking and watching porn until then. So, no bars would not survive past the lifespan of the last man on Earth. IM Legend. |

Actually, not so long ago, the term "gentlemen's club" referred to what was basically a bar with no girls. Landed gentry would pay shiny pennies for memberships in such clubs, where men -- and men only -- would sit around drinking cognac, smoking expensive cigars, and discussing politics, economics, etc.
It is my hypothesis that the time is ripe for the return of just such an establishment. Classy gentlemen need to Get Away From It All from time to time, and there really isn't any good classy establishment (that I know of) to provide that outlet.

9 bars within 1/4 mile of home. Irish/Italian neighborhood.
No girls around would slow down tourist season otherwise it's where people go to straighten out before going home.

We get to have our drinks, and smokes if we so desire. We discuss politics, economics, etc. The problem with doing this in an establishment is that there are all kinds of laws that require no smoking, and the admittance of females that wreck all of the good guy fun.

Around here the nice men clubs are in the city. They are not really expensive to join/dues etc, but instead of having a toy Porsche you go down and have brandy & cigar or whatever you want after work and hang with the Manhattan guys. The clubs are laid out with big chairs etc that it's easy to get lost. Great place to belong as you gain more control over commuting.. The revolution was plotted in a bar down town.
Many are dynamic white collar office workers. They're all in the same capital marathon in the greatest city in the world.. go figure
