Reloading

I know nothing about reloading, but with ammunition prices having gone up 50%-300% in the last two weeks, I might need to give it a shot if I want to continue shooting.

The calibers/gauges that I currently shoot are 9mm, 12 Gauge, .22LR, and .17HMR. I understand that the last two cannot be reloaded because they are rimfire.

So if I wanted to reload the 9mm and 12 gauge, what kind of equipment would I need? I know you need a press, but could I get one that would do both?

Check out the Dillon 550B, http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/Dillon_Reloading_Machines-8-1.html . It's just about the gold standard for pistols and rifles.

I've gone back and forth about this for years, but the $$ doesnt add up for me. The white box from walmart is the same price as the supplies to reload my .40. 9mm from Walmart is even cheaper.

If you want to make custom loads reloading is a requirement. For plinking a common caliber it's too much work and walmart ammo is so cheap. Dont forget; supplies are more expense now too.

Ha, ha, ha... Welcome to the dark side :)

Unfortunately, 9mm and 12ga can't be done with the same press, though you could get into reloading fairly cheaply. In fact, if you are interested in a used Lee press, let me know I still have my old ones from before I upgraded to Dillon. As for loading the 12ga, there are a couple of routes you can go. Lee used to make a box set of "handtools" for reloading shotshells. In fact, I might have one of those lying around as well. I'll have to check.

I'll let you know!

Reloading isn't for everybody, not a job you can multi-task at.
