Sorry for your loss, Jeff.
|
My condolences too Jeff.
Sorry to hear about your loss; beautiful pictures buddy. |
That is bad, Jeff. Sorry for your loss.
|
A lot of cat lovers on this thread. Charlie was a beauty. Byron and others here know the same horrible feeling...
|
Lots of people have been losing pets it seems. This totally sucks, and I honestly hope you can keep it together. Always remember that you gave your cat a WONDERFUL life.
|
Sorry man.
|
Jeff, any idea how it happened yet? I am truly sad for you. My wife and I don't have and can't have kids (adopting is in the future). We have 2 cats, Frick and Frack. Rescues.
Look at the bright side, your cat was loved, so many more aren't, now you can share that with another one. We just had a shelter close and the town was gonna put down the 22 cats left..we organized and saved everyone! |
Cool looking lil bugger, sorry for your loss.
|
Thanks for the kind words from everyone. It really means a lot - this is turning out to be a lot harder to deal with than I feared it might. I'm trying to keep it together but it's still hard to focus on things and it's still a big giant knot in my gut. It hurts.
Still no word from the vet. I imagine he'll call later today or possibly tomorrow. I finalized the arrangements and we'll have his ashes brought home after this unpleasantness is all over. At least he'll be with us again. |
I'm sorry for your loss. I know how much it has hurt when our dogs have died. I've always developed strong bonds with the animals I've let into my house.
|
Well, it looks like it was a condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Basically an enlarged heart. There's a good description of it on the doctor's web site here:
http://www.lbah.com/heart/cardiacdiseases.htm I feel a bit better knowing that it's not something that is going to harm our other cat, but it still is a bit upsetting to know he had a condition that maybe could have been caught and just wasn't. He had a big heart. I knew that part already. I just never thought it would result in him being taken away. Rough day. |
thanks for the update and that information...just got my older cat back yesterday he is 15 and was in the hospital in orange county for 4 days receiving radioactive iodine therapy to shrink his thyroid which was growing... luckily we caught it pretty early but it can lead to a similar heart condition that your cat had...where the thyroid is overactive and taxes all systems internally. Boy he was glad to see me and vice versa.
It sucks that you didnt get a chance to say goodbye to him, it sounds though that he went peacefully and without pain. At his young age, it would have been tough to catch something like that without a complete blood screen, which most younger cats dont go through.....good luck to you |

Hope it turns out as well for you as it did for us. The toughest time was the "not cuddling" time period. |
Man this had better stop soon. Seems we all are losing of beloved pets. I'm so sorry to here this. My cat, Willie, was lost for 7 weeks until we found him. I cannot bear to think of losing him as you have lost your buddy. Hang in there.

Gone, but he enlarged my heart. He's the one on the top. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1200358360.jpg |
Kinda nice to see so many cat lovers. :) Sorry for your loss.
|
Really sorry to hear of your loss, Jeff. We've lost cats to old age, and that's a tough one, but you see it coming. When they're taken from you while they're young, that's a different story altogether. It leaves a large hole which really rips you up.
Remember the good times with him. Hang in there, buddy. |
i just saw this thread and it reminded me how much i miss my cats. I'm going through a divorce and i miss our 4 cats more than words can describe. One of them - Fatty also has a disease that is causing an enlarged heart. we're controlling it with medication -which conversely affects her liver. i love them and miss them. Some cell phone pics
