wow thanks nostatic! That smoothie sounds delicious. Thanks for the recipe. I need to cut some weight out also.

20, 6' 205. I want to lose atleast 20 pounds. I don't have a beer belly or anything, but I have been getting flabbier in the chest area.

Good on all you guys wanting to lose weight. I've been a steady runner since I went into the Army when I was 18. I weighed 150 then and when I weighed myself last night I was 152. This is 34 years later. If you exercise it sure opens up your eating options!

You don't need to drop the whiskey, I lost a 100 lbs' and gained only solid muscle mass (competition sized) and I still have a nice scotch or two in the evening during the entire process. I'm 6' 1" and 155 all lean muscle, and I'm in my 30's. BTW, good luck! Hope you make your goal!

I love my alky-hol, but I've found that I need to cut out all carbs to lose weight. I hope to be down 20 lbs. from Jan. 1st by the end of this week. Only 30 more lbs. to go...

Aw geez. The CEO is getting in shape. This is the first step toward global domination. It always starts this way. I'm 6'2" about 215 pounds. Starting to resemble a grizzly before hibernation. If I tried to do an honest days labor I would need a week to recover.

I've surrendered. It's wonderful.

Really? I always heard that alcohol and weight loss don't mix? But I'll happily be wrong as I also like a few fingers of the nectar before bed.

Thanks for the info!

Its something that's widely debated, however it never slowed my weight loss down.

No big deal, but I've lost a half pound.

I expect to lose 10 pounds in the first month, then slow steady loss until my goal.

The ride on the exercise bike was KILLER. Wow, I'm out of shape

2008, the year to be healthy!
+1 as well as the "You, on a diet" by the same authors.

Forgive me, but I'm a metric lad - can someone work this out... I started at 105kg last June and have stripped down to 85kg as of this week. I'm 5'11". I know I can now start to see my abs after nearly 15 years. I began by buying a one way train ticket each morning forcing myself to walk 3.5 miles home. Once I felt confident enough, I began to run some of that distance. Eventually I found I could run all the way home and I started timing myself.

I've gone full on now and head to a gym 3-5 times a week for strength training and am actually starting to see my body shape change. I'm asking for a six-pack for my 38th b'day in May

PS Watch-out... wives and girlfriends get all suspicious that your new found enthusiasm is all about impressing some chick at the office...

I started January 1st at 257 lbs.. So that is losing a little less than 8% of my weight in three weeks--or 2.5% per week. I don't think that is a dramatically fast rate.

Ok, here's my deal. This is what I looked like in May 2006:

At 6 foot 1 weighing in at 278 pounds I tried EVERYTHING to lose weight short of surgery. I finally discovered a weight loss specialist in Beverly Hills who ALL the celebs use (don't believe those Jenny Craig ads). By solely putting me on a strict eating plan and having me work out 3 to 4 days a week (no trainer required) in October of 2006 I looked like this!

174 pounds! Size 31 jeans (I had been a tight 40), cholesterol down to 146 from 255 and generally feeling great! It's been over a year since then and I still am between 176 & 178, ok in my book. The key is to don't let ANYTHING sway you from your eating plan. My wife stagged a surprise birthday party for me while I was losing and one of the hardest things to do was say no to my own birthday cake!

Don't be embarrassed to take a scale with you to restaurants if your plan requires specific portion control. You may get strange looks from the waitress but who cares! Lastly, Don't weigh yourself every day. Do it every other week. Don't be a slave to the scale!

I hope this encourages you all to reach your goals. I know it is one of the hardest things you'll ever do. I will gladly answer any questions or give words of encouragement. I can't be much help on the 911 tech board (I'm still looking for a good G-50 car!) but I'll help out any way I can here.

Good luck everyone!
Michael
