American History X; thoughts?

Watched this last night while reviewing payrolls; I liked the movie as it inspired some emotion in me. i came away with the reminder that our kids really look up to us and we need to be oh so careful with our rhetoric when talking with/around them.

Anybody else enjoy the movie?

Excellent movie!!!! Yeah, kinda coarse and gruesome but I think it really makes you think about some of the hate groups out there and how they can grow quickly.

Great movie from a writing, acting standpoint. Ed Norton is a pretty amazing actor. However, the story and subject matter is pretty intense and, frankly, upsetting. Everytime I get the itch to see it again, I'm quickly reminded why I had waited so long between viewings.

Great movie. Not a pick-me-up!

Definitely a great movie, but very disturbing.

Good flick. Edward Furlong annoys me though.

One of Edward Norton's best, IMO. I couldn't believe the physical transformation he made for the part.

Yea, he got pretty muscular for the role. I read somewhere that during the filming, once or twice he forget to take the makeup tattoos and what not off, and he was in a little corner store. He walked in, all the sudden everyone (being mostly black) got very quiet, and very upset. I think I remember someone asking him, in a rather unpolite manner, just WTF he was doing. Said it scared the hell out of him, and made the whole movie a bit more "real" to him.

Awesome movie.
