I had the same problem. So did a buddy. He says the problem is solved with a new router. I am still using the darn plug/unplug meathod.

Ditto! It can go a month or two before there is no connection. Reset and it's good for several weeks again. Linksys wireless G.

I have had good luck with DLink and Netgear. The Dlink worked great for years until my power went out one day. The router never came back on. Dead. The Netgear 108 wireless I have now does well as long as it is up high in my house. I set it on the floor last week and my notebook kept dropping the signal.

I went with a reconditioned model from someone on the net and so far so good. Price was about $25.

I had the same issue, changed some settings and it was fixed. Change the MTU to manual and then played with the settings until I found what worked best. My buddy has the router now as I upgraded to a Wireless N...he still has no issues with it.

Okay, I went to Linksys chat help and was told to change a router setting and the problem of router disconnecting should go away. Here is the transcript....

Atul Kulkarni (33541): Please turn the router upside down and at the bottom of the router next to model number you will get version number for the router.
Terry: v5
Atul Kulkarni (33541): Ok.
Atul Kulkarni (33541): Now please click on Setup Tab.
Terry: okay
Atul Kulkarni (33541): Please change Client Lease Time to 999 and click on Save Settings.
Terry: okay
Atul Kulkarni (33541): Terry this should resolve your issue. But if not resolved then I would suggest you to upgrade the firmware.

I think Linksys routers have some kind of time bomb where they crap out after 2 years. My router is on it's way out as well. Some of the ethernet ports seem flaky and the wireless connection doesn't seem to be as strong. I am also looking at recommendations for new routers.

+1 on the firmware update. I had to do this with my Linksys wireless router a couple of years ago. No problems since.
Interestingly (for me), is that I've had almost no issues with Linksys wireless equipment, but have had ZERO luck with DLink or Netgear on my Linksys network.

I don't know much about routers, but I can keep my internet connection on my tile saw indefinitely...

What?
