Have a seat! New office furniture.

So I have some old seats from a BMW E30 that were talking up space in my office. The wife bought me the XBox force feed back wheel so I could waste time playing Forza....

I didn't have time to make the attachement to mount the steering wheel and pedals yet, but here's the start. The wheel and pedal portion will be detachable so I can move the chair around.

The base was designed to allow the seat to fully recline without flipping backwards.

I've got a couple other (911) seats waiting in the basement for conversion...what do you guys think

Do you have enough clearance for your helmet? That's sitting awfully high.

It's maybe 1-2 inches too high for short people, but my feet just touch the floor when sitting in it. The front of the seat actually tilts up and down. The seat in the finished picture is in full up-tilt 'cause the mechanism is caught up somehow, haven't had the time to fix it.

The thing is more comfortable than a Lazy boy! With a foot stool it'll make for a nice place to nap.

A few cuts with the chop saw, and I'll weld up some arms

Maybe I'll mount some speaks on it too, with a 12" woofer and one of those ricer chassis thumbers under the seat for better gaming feel.

Dood, you need a diagonal cross-brace or the fatso neighbor is gonna fold that thing into your floor!

Awesome Souk! I had a similar idea, but if I built it, it'd probably end up killing the first person who sat in it!

That is seriously cool...I might have to see if I can't get a one of my welder friends to hook something like that up with a 944 chair...

Nice chair Souk.

I made one a few years back before I mounted my SC seats into my 911T. It was comfortable, but I lacked metalworking tools at the time and just made some wooden adapters to mount the car seat onto the chair base. It's not as nice as yours, but it was comfortable. I wanted a Recaro leather office chair, but if I had even had the extra money I would have put it towards the car and not an office chair.....You know how it goes.....

Dood, I'm 205 lbs ... who you calling fatso? Really though, I did design it with a horizontal cross brace under the seat, but after I got done welding the front three pieces together I changed my mind. Even before I finished welding the front three members I couldn't tweak them with just the tack welds. So the bottom of the front is probably about 1/4" closer. 1" square tube welds up nice and strong. I gave it a good test with my 200+ lbs before I cleaned up the garage to be sure I didn't need to over design it I like I do with everything else.

Rob C - used car seats are a heck of a lot cheaper than furniture store chairs with less comfort. I think some 993 seats will go nicely with the leather sofas in our family room. The wifey has already given me the OK to put my gaming seat in a corner of the living room.

Sapporo Guy - my 13 yr old, suggested a beer holder for it too. LOL!

Top Gear did something with 1,500 pounds (dam can't get the symbol and I ain't gonna use a $ sign either) porsches and wasn't it the 928 that got turned into a living room set?
