And you've proven my point that you do not, in fact, understand how the Constitution is modified.

Your naiveté is charming. You sound like a young pup frosh liberal.

Prediction: The Huckster will be involved in some gay sex scandal similar to the Ted Haggards of this world.

For he who preaches loudest......................

I have seen very little "fire and brimstone" out of this guy. But I guess being a Baptist, something major has GOT to be wrong with him, huh??

I'm not saying that, I am saying that the people who shout loudest sometimes have something hide. Larry Craig was no preacher but his actions did not match his words, that's the kind of thing I object to.

Shout loud? Huckabee? He is running as a huckleberry with a bass guitar.

You are probably correct. And that's the sad part about this and most campaigns. They focus on the relatively small crap that they hope will touch a nerve with their "base" and ignore the truly important stuff per our nation.

Yes, abortion and defining marriage and gay rights are issues and should be discussed and addressed.

But when they are elevated far above things like the economy, our budget deficits, our border fiasco, our imbalance of trade, our national debt, Iraq, the deterioration of our manufacturing base, our military troops in about 70 or 80 foreign nations, and our illegal immigration mess it should tell us that the politicians are either incredibly stupid or clinically mendacious.

Of course he can't come into office and just do a constitutional change! If he's that deeply religious, that crosses the line (to me) into fanatisism. I like my presidents kind of middle of the road. Not ultra anything, except to be always mindful of what's "best" for the country.

I swear he was in a bathroom stall next to me yesterday and kept doing this weird thing with tapping his foot. What was that all about?

DaveE 01-16-2008 08:16 AM

Huckabee is also the one proposing a National Sales Tax rather than Income Tax, correct?

KFC911 01-16-2008 08:16 AM

A wide stance...nothing more :)

Burnin' oil 01-16-2008 08:40 AM

Huckabee was talking about marriage. From his website:

I support and have always supported passage of a federal constitutional amendment that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

This position is not new, radical or theocratic and is not a reasonable basis for a Huckabee-Taliban comparison.

legion 01-16-2008 08:47 AM

So Harddrive was cherry-picking words out of context to make comparison (and a bit of a stretch at that)?

Thank You! I was hoping the quote was either false or taken out of context. I like Huckabee. He's the one candidate I'll feel good about voting for (in the last 8 years) - should that option become available.

Taz's Master 01-16-2008 11:21 AM

According to that article McVeigh was an agnostic. I disagree in principle with strengthening a religion's influence on the government, but maybe if it would curtail agnostic violence against the country?

Okay, I read it...little different from other web sites of that particular genre and type. (except that "Nichols" runs the site)

So what is your point?

Just curious Bob, but exactly what personal traits, positions, accomplishments, ect makes you feel "good" about Sen./Preacher Huckabee?

P.S. If you tell me that you are a Fundamentalist Southern Baptist I will then understand.:)

It's all religious persecution.

In the Soviet Union, people would walk down the street and you would be forced to view 5 or 10 propaganda pictures. You learned to ignore it.

We, fortunately, live in a secular country, where we are not forced to view a Baptist prayer at every stop sign. But if the vermin behind the religious right have anything to do with that, this situation will END and your local grocery store will have a big advertisement on the front showing Jesus granting your food- as long as you are Baptist. If you are Catholic, well, then you are entitled to shop at the special "Catholic Only" stores that your new religious federal government has set up for YOU.

Or maybe it is the other way around: The Catholics force the Baptists to bow down to THEIR views. That is, it is now ILLEGAL for a Baptist to eat red meat on a Friday.

Hey! If we can prevent gays from marrying, we can prevent different religions from marrying. And we can prevent you from shopping at the wrong store too. That's how we did it back in the 1950's, and we can legalize that again-

THINK!

N!

Man, you are really upset about gay rights, aren't you? maybe it would make you feel better if you go march in a parade or something.
BTW, gay is not a religion, so your comment about religious persecusion is by definition rubbish. but I don't have to tell you that ;)

Where I come from, hauling somebody off to the local soccer pitch and shooting them up with an AK-47 isn't the same as opposing legislation that would overturn a current law.
