Political Affl: Vocal Posters.

It appears from This thread that 67% of Pelicans are republicans. Now lets move on to a new poll.

And be honest....

If you actively post political comments on POT (let's say that's at least one per day) which of the two prominent U.S. political parties do you align yourself with the most?

What we're trying to determine is which leaning posts the most. And again, I left out Libertarian, Independent, Communist, and more. You have to decide which of the two you are more aligned with. Even at 51%.

Forgive the thread title. It should read "Vocal posters"

About 40% of the voters are neither Democrat nor Republican. Why shut them out? After all, they decide elections.

Both polls are a bit deceiving, I think.

I think there are a lot of people who are long time Republicans, but do not agree with, or really support, Bush or the many of the current republicans in Congress (and certainly not the last Republican controlled Congress over the past few years). They feel abandoned by the Republican party.

They are people without a party. Abandoned by the current Republican party, but still view most Republicans as the lesser of two evils when compared to the Dem running against them. "Hold Our Nose and Vote" Republicans.

On the other hand, it seems that most Dems are relatively happy with their party, their candidates, the party leaders, and the job that the current Democratic controlled Congress is doing.

Are liberals just inherently dishonest?...are they just too ashamed to admit their loyalty to a failed party or do they not want to change their silly strategy of pretending they are anything but liberal...when they post backing the liberal point of view every time?

Fint you really are a true believer. Obviously you assign everything that is evil to the democratic party and anyone who isn't a republican. If the republicans told you it is dark when it is day time you would be right here passing the word on and telling every one else that they are evil liberals and democratic scum if we didn't believe what you say is true. It really gets old after a while. Both parties suck. The republicans have lost their principals and have shifted from being conservative to forcing a christian nanny state on us. All sense of financial conservativism has long left. As fas as I can tell, its ok spend huge amount on credit as long as it is for the right things e.g. the war in Iraq.
What more, I know you truly belive that all of that has been a sucess and that any thing the MSM has reported about it has been part of a larger liberal (democratic) conspiracy.

WOW, thanks for the laugh. I haven't had good laugh in a while. That's one of the most misguided statements I've ever read.

BTW, I have NO political affiliation. I vote for whoever I feel will do the better job so don't accuse me of being a liberal because of my reply.

Sure you may consider yourself an Independent, Moderate, Centrist, or Libertarian.

But would others?

Also keep in mind that Independent and Moderate are not political parties. And it's been a long time since I've seen a political thread with a Libertarian tilt. (Not since FastPat anyway.)

If you're addressing me I don't consider myself anything. I don't apply a label to myself. You may apply a label and who knows what that would be but I don't. I don't align myself with parties, I align with people.

The nature of being a liberal progressive is a constant state of tension sitting in a superior chair. The standing principals change routinely as the flavor of the month. The basics is that we have a broken constitution that needs repair and they can fix it. The rah rah motivation chant is whatever sticks to the wall or what judicial process they can change. The "we're all equal" mantra is a disguise for their elected leaders to dominate the mind set and set the agenda. Their leaders are successful when they act more like babysitters than dynamic managers.

2008 will see if they've gained critical mass at the polls. Traditional post ww2 Dem values and blue dog Dems are survived by only Sen Joe Lieberman.

fint: The so-called "Liberals" are no more dishonest than the so-called "conservatives". Anyone, in my opinion, who adheres to either party without reservation is, at best, delusional. Most "conservatives" posting here have shown there are things about the current Republican party that concerns them. That shows a degree of honesty that is refreshing. The ability to see everything in stark black and white shows someone who is very shallow in their thinking.

Don't you have to apply a label to yourself when you register to vote and vote in your primaries?
