What color to paint Yo Eddy! -??
 

If you know what I'm talking about, you're already qualified. I'm looking for opinions. I have been transforming a large room in my basement to a work shop. One of the things adding to the clutter was my beloved 92 Yo!. Instead of moving to another room to collect dust for more years, I decided to do something about it. I found a place in Ohio that specializes in FC restorations and I sent it in yesterday. It was originally Wild Cherry, which was too purple for me. I sent it in and had it painted bright yellow. Many races and rides later it needed another repaint and, sadly, ended up Krylon blue. My first thought was silver with yellow and black stickers. Now I'm thinking I wouldn't mind adding some color, so I'm considering a yellow to silver fade with yellow at the front including the fork. Yeah - color is subjective, but I know you are a creative bunch so I would appreciate the input.

paint it continental orange.

let dry.

wrap cotton string all over it.

paint it gulf blue.

let dry.

remove string.

Chartreuse is one color I hadn't considered. Definitely in keeping with the period correct theme. My bike has the Synchros seatpost like that one, but I had the fork modified to accept a threadless headset. It has a Kore stem.

I like where your head is at Shawn.:) I have considered a custom Gulf style paint job. Haven't ruled it out. It would make the bike perfect for taking to Road America to pedal around between events.

Some of the original guys started "if" (independant fabrications) bikes. I know nothing of them other than what I found when I did a Google search of Fat City.

There's a Fat City forum, believe it or not. It's post count is somewhat (as in a LOT) lower than Pelican's, but it has some interesting stuff.

My frame is a 92 with non-suspension geometry and 1 inch steerer. Definitely old school steel - just the way I like it.:)

The string effect (or masking tape if you want bolder contrast) looks great, but I could also see a blend/fade with the two colors and black accents.

Take some pics of the process and show off the bike.

pic 1 looks good Bob, I'd go in that direction.

i think it would be cool to see a martini paint job as well. Very difficult to do, i would think but very cool none-the-less.

Guy by the name of Rody who owns Groovy Cycles in Wooster Ohio did it. Cool guy and easy to work with. Price was right for all the work that he did.

Got to say, they really did a beautiful job. You've got to a 1 inch round Gulf sticker or 2 for it now. Maybe find on it a model kit?
