Have you seen the free heating oil commercials with Joe Kennedy for Hugo Chavez?

Not that any Kennedy could do anything to lower my opinion of that family any more. But these commercials seem to border on treason. Joe Kenendy is pitching this free heating oil as a gift from the people of Venezuela. We all know the people of Venezuela ain't pitching in to donate free anything to poor folks in America. And helping the U.S. is the last thing the Venezuelan gov't. wants to do. This is Hugo Chavez's attempt to embarass the U.S. because our gov't. doesn't hand out free heating oil to its people. Chavez and/or Citgo seems to have found, as Lenin so aptly put it, a "useful idiot" in Joe Kennedy. Have you guys seen these or are they only run in cold weather states?

Illinois is mostly/all natural gas. Never seen these commercials.

i see them all the time..and honestly, i think it's a great idea. lots of older people in nj can't afford to pay for heat, and that is an embarassment to US...we should be ashamed that people freeze to death because they cannot affor to heat their homes. Kudos to Citgo.
btw, i need to heat my house with oil and we don't have natural gas where i am, i just priced it out 3.60 a gallon.

i agree, but most of the people here that i know that could use it were NOT above their means, times have passed them and the $4 they get in retirement and social security doesn't rise in the same plane as the taxes, energy and other costs.
I do agree about the people who buy above their means, but this is not always the case.

I live in cold west-central PA and haven't seen them. I'm sure there are more than a few in my area that could use the help and I don't believe too many are living above their means, unless trying to stay warm and eat is being extravagant.

So what wouldn't you accept from a sworn enemy of the US who only wants to use you for propaganda?

i have NOTHING against Chavez...he isn't my enemy. Quite to the contrary really. i suppose they are now harboring all those "terrorists" that we are looking for..or the have "wmds" now right? just because our government does not like another countries government doesn't mean that i have to.

well speaking of my in laws...both of whom serverd in the military in WW2
do the smoke? father no, mother yes

do they have kids? yea...my wife and i are the best off of all of them...we do what we can, as often as possible.
do they own a house? yea...buy it please...taxes have gone up to $600 a month
do they work? father, yes part time to afford his various meds and to pay towards dr bills. mother no. wheelchair kinda keeps that from happening

total income? less than 14k a year
subtract $ 7200 in property taxes
net income to pay EVERYTHING ELSE $6800

this is a couple, both vets, father is a combat vet..and this is how they fair...it is despicable.

so is the Joe for oil worth it? sure is..if i can get it for them
