You called a post ridiculous and asked what I thought was a simple question; you said:

I gave a simple and direct answer:

"How about a zygote, embryo then fetus . . . the "baby" part come later."

I am quite aware of how babies develop from fertilized cells and would not dodge or deny this accepted scientific fact.

The problem is deciding when it's a child. In this there are two obvious choices and several less obvious. The two are conception ans birth. The problem with choosing birth is that one must include labor-table abortion as being acceptable. Having seen a child removed from mother I can tell you that it was a child 30 seconds earlier too.

The Supreme Courts indecision agreed both in that it was a child to be protected and also not a child so it could be discarded. It chose to split the term of pregnancy arbitrarily.

In 1973 they had no ultrasound 3D imaging. In 1973 no one had successfully performed surgery in utero. In short, we know much more about the child in utero today than a group of judges making arbitrary non scientific judgments 35 years ago. Think people, we need to question this decision.
