Deja Vu - a rerun of the 70's

Are we being setup for a repeat of the 1970's? With Double digit inflation, double digit unemployment and finally double digit mortgage interest rates ?? Based on past history, maybe we would be better off if the govt. just left things alone for a while ? How many of you remember Ford's WIN (Whip Inflation Now) buttons ??

It is bound to happen eventually, if not this time around.

I predict stagflation and double-digit interest rates in the next 2-3 years.

The good news is whoever is elected president this year will be a one-termer and too distracted by a disastrous economy to push much of their own agenda.

That's good news?

I'm glad I didn't throw out my old threads http://www.retro-housewife.com/image.../1970s-man.jpg

I've been saying this for months.

Think "energy crunch" too. The parallels are eerie.

Yep, all over again. ;)

A return to 70's music would be a giant step forward!

Talk about the lesser of two evils. . .

Even disco would be better than the current run of cRap "music" and hip-hop schit that seems ubiquitous these days.

I've tried to listen to it many times - and every time I make it about 30-45 seconds before I have to shut it off. I just don't get it. It sucks. Guess that means I'm old.

hardflex 01-23-2008 05:22 AM

In talking to some of the kids I work with the other day, turns out those useless HipHop songs have a little dance routine they do to them that the kids like to do. I said "oh you mean like Disco!" They didn't like the inference but it's true. And the music started to make more sense to me. It still sucks though. Always reminds me of Linus(I think it was Linus) banging on his toy piano.

And they play about 4 songs over and over and over....

MichiganMat 01-23-2008 07:34 AM

"Louie Louie" was just as simplistic as todays HipHop songs. So was "You really got me now". More style than skill, just a different time frame.

But yeah, the "hit" hiphop these days sucks pretty badly.

hardflex 01-23-2008 07:50 AM

At least Louie Louis played musical chords

One hiphop song I'm thinking of is 3 notes played in in one measure repeated ad nauseum in a 3 or 4 minute song.

You mean like *****-kicker line dancing?

Moneyguy1 01-23-2008 08:18 AM

IF I recall, the actual bad interest rates were in the 80s. I remember, in 1987 or 88 Chase used to charge an additional $99 to assure that a home equity loan's interest would not exceed 16%.
