The Officer Down Memorial Page

From time to time, visit the http://www.odmp.org/ and read how officers are killed in the line of duty.

I read 2 of the stories of officers (Police Officer Nicola Cotton - killed while arresting a rape suspect and Police Officer Christopher A. Ridley - killed while breaking up a fight off duty) that were recently killed.....

David

Wow, David, so many of them, and lots of very young ones to boot. I'm glad you do your job, its one job I would never want to do. Years ago, I visited the CHP Academy in Sacramento and got to go through a simulator where they give you a laser gun and have you stand in front of a video screen and respond to a DUI pullover, a domestic violence situation and others and they can change the video output depending on how you respond. 3 out of 3 times I was dead.

Thanks for the reminder David....We must remember that in an average year, 150 LEO's are killed in the line of duty.

Each year, in mid May, it's Police Memorial Week....Our motorcycle club and many thru out the nation sponsor fund raising rides with the money going to COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors).....They use the money so widows can send the children to college. I can't think of a more worthwhile charity???????

I will be in Washington this year for the Police Memorial. For the first time we will be shipping several of our police motors with us and will be providing escorts during the week. I've never been before, But I've been told it's pretty emotional. David, are you going this year?
