Looks like a track - prepped 944. Being driven on the highway?

thrown_hammer 01-29-2008 09:10 AM

Whoa! It had "special" tires!

The newscaster did say "por-sha"... so I'm good with it.

Owner not in car?

Hope it was not someone with purchase intent doing a test drive.

You broke it, you bought it.

Probably a dumb question but are you actually allowed to drive a car on a US highway that's wearing slick tyres?

"Allowed" and can you do it are two different things. I drive on partially used RA-1 to the track all the time (track is 1 hour away...I shipped them with a freind to Mid Ohio). I have a friend that drives on Hoosier slicks. I guess it's all in the risk you want to take. I guess if you're stopped, the officer might cite you for improper equipment. If he notices...he didn't for me. :D

This is sensationalist news coverage: "Wow it had flames on the side!" The day when a "porsche race car" flipping over makes the news are good days indeed.

legion 01-29-2008 12:55 PM

No.

austin552 01-29-2008 08:16 PM

Hasn't everyone driven on public streets with racing tires at least once?
