A guy I've met owns this beasty, it's engine is based on an original Austin mini bottom end bored out to 1380cc (so still rather tiny then!) and its been fitted with custom 16 valve head, pushes out around 150 bhp. The car also weighs less than a US market Elise so the performance pretty good.

I really need to twist his arm and get a passenger ride in it!

Great stuff, Steve. I like how the camera keeps rolling after the Mini has disappeared then waits for it to return...

The first Mini I posted is rear-wheel drive and tube framed with VTEC or Suzuki motors mounted in the rear. These guys build them:

Wife's Mini is still front wheel drive and at 220 hp (more or less) it does have a bit of torque steer... but tame by comparison

Thanks for the link, I had heard of Z cars, didn't realise that they created their own cars from scratch. Very impressive but way way out of my price range!

ERH your wife's mini is a very neat looking car, bet that is a blast to drive.

Yeah - they're pricey. But did you see the two Minis Z cars has for sale? When you convert the Pound-to-Dollar cost, the outcome is about the same as a new MCS with the JW works kit. All they need is to be converted to left-hand drive.

Seeing that I live in England, converting to LHD is a little pointless! Also they are still way way too expensive for me because my second car budget is based entirely on what loose change I can find down the back of my sofa.

Oh - I like those =

I'd take one of those over an elise - easier to get into too!

Sweet! The new minis are OK, but they don't have the charisma of the originals.
