hey guys, my first baby saying his first "dad" word

hey guys, my first baby saying his first "dad" word.
I feel happy, the strange feeling. I heard this from others all the time and most of the time I felt "well, any baby will say this word soon or later". Now I understand why people talked about it.
Tonight, after I comb his hair, he was happy looking at himself in front of the mirror. I went to the sofa and turned on the TV. He came right in front of me and said "dadddd" and smile. I said "say it again". He went again "daddddd" and smile. We all laught and... oh mine, I am so happy.

Sublime moment indeed. Every developmental mile stone brings joy to a proud parent. How old is he?

My fourth child, Hannah, is almost three years old now. Her first word was dad, second mom and third...wait for it... Pooosssche! That is indoctrination at its finest!

4th child? wow. You really having fun.
This is my first. He's around 20 months. He's kind of late but I don't mind. I feel its' something will come soon or later. Actually, his frist word isn't dad. He has been speaking "his own laguage" for quite a while but this is his first "dad" word, and the word which makes sense

Cool. My little girl (7months) just started saying daddaddadada. Everything else sounds like gibberish or crying. I have wondered if we are called "dada" and "mama" because babies find that easy to say?

VaSteve - my dad taught language development in children at UF in the speech path department for years... the babbling and "dadada" and "mamama" are all ways of the baby learning to talk and make specific sounds. Some almost always come first, some almost always come last (hard stops, etc). Really cool research, esp. seeing a bunch of old profs with measuring devices in their mouths making the baby sounds to define the sound patterns for analysis...

Wait until he punches you right in the balls in front of company, that happened to me over Christmas. I was crying in pain and happiness at the same time. It only gets better!

Great story, it's so surreal, my twins are almost 5 and it never ceases to amaze me at some of the things they come up with.

One thing my parents (Dad) warned me about was for the first few years everything is mom this, mom that. "I don't want you I want mommy" It was a couple of years of that and it started to hurt, then of course the tides turn and now they want me Just know that this will end..

Fast forward to your child...14 years....."daddd can I have the keys to your Porsche?"

The simple things can bring such joy.

My boy took his first steps a couple of days ago.

My girl finally is getting over her fears and is starting to enjoy her Powerwheels motorcycle. Soon she will be out on the trail with Dad. I can't wait to take the whole family off-road.

Trust me it just gets better from here.

My most cherished times are throwing the baseball with my 11 yr Son and laughing with my 8 yr Daughter. She and I have the same sense of humor and are constantly trying to make each other laugh. Good times!

That is great! Wait until they tell you how much they, "love you, Daddy".

Children grown in the blink of an eye. Take them places and take pictures.
