Down's syndrome suicide bombers
Remote-controlled explosives were strapped to two women with Down's syndrome and detonated in coordinated attacks on two Friday morning markets in central Baghdad yesterday, killing at least 73 people and wounding nearly 150.
The chief Iraqi military spokesman in Baghdad, Brigadier General Qassim al-Moussawi, claimed the female bombers had Down's syndrome and that the explosives were detonated by remote control, indicating they may not have been willing attackers in what could be a new method by suspected Sunni insurgents to subvert stepped-up security measures. The US ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, said the bombings showed that al-Qaida has "found a different, deadly way" to try to destabilise Iraq. US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice said the bombings in Iraq proved al-Qaida is "the most brutal and bankrupt of movements" and would strengthen Iraqi resolve to reject terrorism. WAIT A MINUTE. So, this is a "new method by suspected Sunni Insurgents?" Okay. Fine. So what does that have to do with Al-Qaida? I know the Sunnis and Al-Qaida were fighting each other in Iraq just a few months ago; Are they allies now or do they hate each other? And why are the US ambassador and Condoleezza Rice blaming this insurgent attack on Al-Qaida? Shall we assume, then, that ANY and ALL terror acts committed ANYWHERE are the work of Al-Qaida? I don't know, I just got mad because all the news outlets are using that Condi Rice quote as the bookend of the story. TERROR. TERROR. AL-QAIDA. If someone could educate me and tell me how this was probably an Al-Qaida attack, I would love to know, because, admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about the intracacies of which bad guys like each other and don't, and who's blowing themselves up right now.

Let us put it this way: it would be a lot better if this was done by Al Queda, because they are the bad ones we are fighting in the war on terror, and obviously using suicide bombers with Down's syndrom is a very, very, very bad thing. And it is not like this administration has ever reinterpreted facts to fit its own agenda, or is it
