where are the products you buy made? How much debt does the US now owe to China? How does that, the massive trade imbalance, and the huge manufacturing shifts affect our current economy?

Unless you don't buy anything and don't work, the changes in China affect you.

Actually, they don't. Kerry counted on the Internet and College age kids, and he lost. They don't vote. If web voting we instituted, the world would change.

In the 80's it was Japan. What is the difference?

I think you are taking the list only on its face.

For example, the list says:

15. Russia has always had a multi-party political system.

I recall having air-raid drills when I was in elementary school because there was a real fear that a nuke war with Russia could happen. Living in a cold war environment had a big impact on the lives of Americans and those in the USSR.

4. They never “rolled down” a car window.

This is just one of thousands+ of changes brought about by high tech; think of all of the other things that one born in 1989 would not be exposed to because of technology . . . and how tech is literally changing lifestyles.

So what the window still went down. How did this change anything?

Unfortunately, when I was a kid it would have been almost unthinkable that a black man or a any woman could be elected president. Times have changed, yes?

Look beyond the one liners and you will get the "message".

WOW I missed that event (and a lot of other events on that list) and I'm in my 50's.

A number of life changing events on that list are very subjective.

right. exactly the same.

What was our trade imbalance with Japan in the 80's? What is the population of Japan vs. China? Amount of natural resources? Politics?

And we weren't in a full global/internet economy then either.
