Where is that Eli doubter?

Yeah, I know that I'm second guessing you. Actually I also expected him to fold under the pressure.

But you got to give credit where credit is due and he did a great job in the playoffs.

Just kinda pisses me off since the Packers absolutely should have won that game in Green Bay.

legion 02-03-2008 06:36 PM

If I was Eli Manning's dad, I'd get a t-shirt made that said: "Back-to-back Superbowl-winning testicles", with a little arrow pointing down...

***

Oh, and are you speaking of the game where the lowly Bears beat the Packers?

artplumber 02-03-2008 06:46 PM

Yeah, you know that's going to be a trivia question in 15 yrs....

Name the father and two sons who played the same position and had consecutive SB wins....

lendaddy 02-03-2008 06:50 PM

Yes I am the doubter and he didn't play well tonight either. Did you see some of those floaters??? Man you just don't see amateur stuff like that in the NFL. You could have hit Burress on that TD:)

But his team won the game so that's that.

Nathans_Dad 02-03-2008 06:51 PM

I'm not an Eli fan, but he has played MUCH better from December on. The big thing that he has done is not throw the INTs when he is pressured, that's the big difference.

BTW, Eli getting the MVP is bogus. That DEFENSE should have gotten the MVP.

Um, I think Eli had a little something to do with the win... like when he dodged the bullet on that last drive and turned a sure-sack into a 40+ yard (IIRC) gain. That was no floater.... ;)

You mean like that throw for the first touchdown?

Agree. The Giants' defensive line won the game. The pats live and die by Brady's passes, and he just didn't have the time to make them.

len,

I've been watching the NFL probably for longer than you have been alive. I can actually remember who the Packer QB was BEFORE Bart Starr!

And I can gaurantee you that you most certainly do see those "floaters" and a whole lot worse in the NFL every year and from of the most unlikely people.

Eli is not an impressive looking kid but he played as well in the playoffs (especially considering the circumstances) as well as any QB could ever be expected to play.

Gotta agree with you on that. Either that Spagniola (sp) guy is the best defensive coach of all time or else the Giant defense played way over their heads for the entire playoffs.

They made the difference in virtually every one of the Giant wins.

I was happy to see Strahan get a ring. He seems like a pretty good guy. Well, maybe not per his ex!

The Packers had a QB before Favre? ;)

nostatic 02-03-2008 07:21 PM

you can throw floaters when you have talented receivers. The first I can remember was Tarkenton. He would scramble around then toss them up in the general vicinity. But he had Gilliam, Ashad, etc running underneath them, it works.

Manning also threw some darts as well. I can't imagine the amount of pressure involved in quarterbacking in the NFL let alone the superbowl. The entire team is looking to you to make it happen. Anyone who pulls that off has my admiration.

Now if they would just quit celebrating like drunken senators after every play...

chapo 02-03-2008 08:02 PM

D line should have received the MVP. Of course, I'm a D line coach, LOL. Plexico too. Nice to see Payton genuinely rooting his bro on. Poor Moss, poor steroid boy Harrison, poor supermodel impregnator Brady, poor Coach, of course i hate him from Cleveland LOL.

Mule 02-03-2008 08:46 PM

Randy & Junior had their ring sizes at the ready for naught!

berettafan 02-04-2008 04:23 AM

Eli got MVP?!

He should have said 'no thanks, it goes to the defensive line'.

lendaddy 02-04-2008 04:40 AM

Eli was not throwing floaters to a fading WR, he was throwing floaters to receivers sitting in open pockets. Normally that's bad bad news but he got away with it on at least three occasions.

I admit that the INT was not his fault. I admit that his scrambling was great, especially on that Tyree miracle catch.

And Brady should have done that in SB XXXVI.

Why, 'cause they slapped Brady's teeth loose? NE's defense is the reason they win & that's who Eli beat. MVP, Eli Manning!

Plaxico had 2 catches and should have gotten the MVP?

Also, calling HGH a steroid is proof of being grossly mis-informed however I agree with your overall message.

I loved the Dawg Pound back in the day! Kosar, Slaughter, Mathews etc were anawesome team.

Mule 02-04-2008 05:21 AM

Just in case you thought Belicheat was not that much of a dirt bag, it looks like he was cheating in the previous Super Bowls. The first question post game was about this. He left shortly after.
