Lots of interesting tidbits here.

To clarify, I certainly feel that every individual's definition of success is different, it always helps to see what others consider success to be..not in order to placate people or impress them by conforming your definition of success to that of others', but I asked the question in order to find those ideas about 'where the grass is greener'...feel me? To consider viewpoints not previously given attention

Michael-your kids are beautiful! just a little hint of mischievousness, but still cute.

Weird how this question is less relevant to me now that the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day outside! ;)

but keep 'em coming!

cheers,
scott

success finds a way, failure finds an excuse.

suc·cess [suhk-ses]
noun
1. the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors.
2. the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like.

So basically, it is completing a goal with the desired outcome.

Thank you.:) You perceive much about their personalities. Lovingly referred to as "Child of the Light" and "Child of the Night".:D

Care to take a shot at which one takes after me?

YTNUKLR 02-04-2008 12:05 PM

yes, you're right. i don't want to know what the dictionary says though, i want to know what you think success is.

michael-just based on our phone conversations, i'll venture a guess at the 'child of the night'..2nd image?

svandamme 02-04-2008 12:45 PM

success is cranking that rebuild, and hearing "Vroom" , not "CLANG!"

When you're finished and you leave the room with both ladies smiling.

Once on SNL they said:

"Success is good looking women that you don't even know walking around your house."

I posted it like that because my take is exactly the same as what the dictionary says. Success is completing or obtaining a goal.

Happiness is setting goals that are obtainable, satisfying, and worthy of pursuit. Two different animals.

You made a fatal mistake. You assumed that most folks with at least a double digit IQ would not resort to the dictionary definitiion and that they might actually offer what they feel inside them.

Silly you.;)

in small business, keeping your head above water month by month, year by year. don't have to get rich, just make a decent living and be happy doing what you do. add a good relationship to that and what more could you ask for? well, maybe a 911 or two and various other mechanical toys.

Being happy. (I happen to be wildly successful at that.)

I think a lot of people think that if they are "successful" it will make them happy instead of just being happy. Jobs, a mate, cars, houses, etc can't make you happy. (They can make you unhappy though.)

That said, it probably a good thing that the gene pool contains whatever it is that makes some people driven to leave a perfectly good family and sail halfway around the world to discover some new country in order to feel "successful".

Jealousy.....If Im jealous then someones succeeded over and above what I could have or thought possible. Precious few times has someone ever been jealous of me. I often cherish those moments when alone and in deep thought.
