Anyone here know about (modern) Chrysler hemi motors?
I have an acquaintance whose '05 Dodge Magnum took a major schit and needs a motor. It's a 5.7 Hemi. Anyone know off-hand which long blocks are interchangeable with it? I'm trying to help and looking through used engine ads, there is one for sale from an '07 PU truck...same LB? TIA as always.

Are you good friends with a wrecked-em yard owner? They have books on which items are easy swaps. I'd ask there...

Thanks, Eric. That's a really good article. I only had time to skim it but it seems that the 5.7 and 6.1 have quite a few differences and as always, the easiest/smartest thing would be to get the exact motor or as close as possible.

Denis, I gathered from the article that all 5.7L castings and components were basically the sane and that longblocks were largely interchangeable. The biggest difference is the 4/8 cylinder deactivation. Of course, you'd switch your intake, injection, accessories, oil pan, etc if you got a truck motor
