Sheldon Brown dead.
Those outside the bicycling community have probably never heard of him, but Sheldon was one of the good guys. He had (has) a fantastic website with oceans of technical information that cannot be found elsewhere. Quite the character.
I communicated with him in the fall when I was building my single speed bike. He was helpful and self effacing. Sad to hear of his passing. If you take a look around his site, you can tell he loved life and loved his family. God Speed. :( http://www.sheldonbrown.com/ |
Oh no. His web site is THE source for cycling information. Please tell me it wasn't a cycling accident or some idiot in a car hit him. . .
He was a truly selfless guy and a huge resource for the sport. Big loss. :( |
Heart attack evidently. His wife supposedly sent out an e-mail yesterday. His blog entries on the site end on the 3rd.

Yeah I saw the thread about his death on bikeforums. I lost count how many ignorant, newbie questions I asked on BF and Sheldon never failed to respond and respond politely. Those quesions had probably been asked hundreds of time too. Big loss for the bicycling community.
RIP Sheldon. |
wow. bummer...I have frequented his site over the years. Great "old school" mentality. God speed...

Too bad, vanishing breed
