Cool

widebody911, is that a vehicle for promoting anti-DUI? It looks like it could function as a police car for the most part.

If you took the photo or have seen one, what does that banner on the rear glass say? I can't make it out.

I got the picture from the "restoring the rat" thread, by kkinzli. I never heard of this but it seems to be real: A huge 1,000 ton tank with a battle ship turret. Another Hitler project that actuallly was started but never completed. On the right, for comparison, is the size of a regular German Tiger tank. I thought it ought to be here too.

I am calling this bogus. It s a nice pic, but there never was any such project started. The comparison vehicle is clearly not a German Tiger I, but a US 105mm self-propelled howitzer:

The Ratte was on the drawing board, but the Maus actually got built as a prototype. Too big to cross bridges though, so they were going to make it submersible. The Russians found the hulk after the war and determined it was big and crude. Not a threat (and not capable of being built in any numbers).

Ferdinand Porsche was a high-up in the tank design department at this time.

Here is the wiki page on the Rat:

There's a great write up about the Gimli glider on the ASN Canada FIA motorsport web site:

BTW I see a picture of my "913" made this thread quite a few hundred pages back, so I'll leave you with a picture of my "X7" as I haven't seen it yet in the thousand or so pages I've been through:

For that you have to put down $250,000.00. And it lasts a few minutes. Is it worth it?

Complete waste of money...yup. If I had it, I would drop it down in a second.
