I think this is not really in flight, because if it were the 'rotary wing' would have an upward curve to its blades, due to the load forces on them as a result of lift.

It's a great idea, though.

As I understand it, the fan will not draw well because it's not sealed, a pusher fan on the other side could get away with this.

Poor engineering on at least that count.
